The wait for the critically-acclaimed Monster Hunter: World on PC is almost over! Originally planned for Fall 2018, Capcom has now confirmed it will be arriving on August 9th, 2018. The title that released for consoles earlier this year has since gone on to become Capcom’s best-selling game in company history with over 8 million units shipped globally. In this entry, players take on larger than life monsters in a variety of vast, living, breathing ecosystems either solo or with up to three other hunters via online co-op, complete with drop-in functionality, a first for the series. A new trailer has been released today to mark the upcoming PC release which can be downloaded here.
In Monster Hunter: World, follow the journey of the elder dragons as they begin their once a decade migration across the sea to a land known as the New World in an event referred to by inhabitants as the Elder Crossing. As part of the Guild’s Research Commission, players must embark on a grand journey to this massive, mysterious land and uncover the secrets behind this phenomenon. As hunters set out on their quests, the Commission’s sights are set on Zorah Magdaros, a colossal elder dragon that rises from the earth like a volcano.
Future updates will add new content and gameplay features. Updates and fixes made in other platform versions will be gradually applied to the PC version. The Event Quest schedule will differ from other platforms so fans should stay tuned to official Capcom channels for more details on additional content release dates.

HP has been doing quite well with the Omen series of laptops and desktops which have been mainly targeting the budding gaming demographic in India while also introducing people to the wonders of PC gaming. We’ve finally gotten our hands on one of those beautiful beast’s and we’ve been in awe ever since then. The Omen X by HP is in actuality a beast, boasting a GTX 1080, 32GB of DDR4 2800Mhz RAM and an i7-7820HK with 4 cores and 8 threads that boosts up to 3.9Ghz.
Intel Core i7 7820HK @2.9Ghz with boost up to 3.9Ghz
32GB 2800Mhz DDR4 RAM
GTX 1080 8GB
1920 x 1080 Full HD IPS 144Hz
1TB NVMe M.2 SSD + 1TB HDD
2 Thunderbolt™3, DP1.2, 3 USB 3.1 Gen 1, 1 Mini DisplayPort,1 HDMI, 1 RJ-4, 1 headphone/microphone combo; 1 microphone-in
This beautiful yet bulky laptop comes in at around 4.5kg which means that portability will be hard but then again, I don’t think many people would lug around a laptop with specs this high to play while they’re traveling. It has a very aggressive design which at this point is almost like a trademark Omen design that looks and feels very premium which I quite like. Especially since there’s a lot of lights with a lot of lighting options. HP knows that gamers love their RGB and they’ve delivered in spades in this department. The keyboard is a full 104 keys mechanical keyboard with complete RGB lighting which adds a lot to the overall aesthetic of the laptop. The keys were enjoyable to use but it took me a while to get used to it since the keys on these seemed to have a shorter actuation point and travel distance and the keys themselves are not as raised like most mechanical keyboards. They’ve cleverly used the space at the back of the laptop to put most of their ports there which means that you won’t get cluttered with wires near your hands or even see cluttered wires in your field of view because they’re all going to be at the back.
The ports are aplenty on this laptop and are well placed. There’s one USB 3.1 port on the left along with headphone-mic combo jack and a mic jack only. There’s one USB 3.1 port along with a multi-format SD media card reader. The rest of the ports at the back include a USB 3.1 port, one Mini DisplayPort, one HDMI, one RJ-45, and two Thunderbolt™ 3 ports.
The screen is an LED IPS Panel with a resolution of 1920×1080 and a refresh rate that is advertised to be 144Hz, however I was only able to get the refresh rate to go up to a maximum of 120Hz. The display also has G-Sync which means that playing games on this display felt buttery smooth in addition to the high refresh rate and games felt life-like due to the colours and not to mention the internal specs that allowed for those high frame rates.
Onto the benchmarks and performance and to start us off we have Cinebench R15 that scored an average of 776cb taken from 6 runs. This score is not bad but does show the importance of cores and clock speeds available in desktop components. We tested 3 games namely Rise of the Tomb Raider, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Counter Strike: Global Offensive. All the benchmarks were taken with the charger connected and with Vsync off.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a gorgeous game and this system allows you to experience that beauty. On the Very High Preset, this game had an average framerate of 127.9 frames per second. This average was taken over the course of 3 runs from the benchmark provided by the game. The framerate and frametimes were smooth and were more than playable at that setting.
PlayerUnknown’s Battleground is the second game we tested that pushed the GPU to it’s limits since this game was benchmarked on the Ultra preset. The benchmark spanned 30 minutes of gameplay which had a total number of 3 games. We tested the new Sanhok map as well as the desert Miramar map. We got an average of 80 frames per second on both the maps which was extremely playable and the game only dropped frames during the initial free fall. I’ve never seen PUBG look so good and still have playable framerates so I was quite pleased with it’s performance in PUBG.
The last game tested was Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The reason for this is simple, it’s an eSports title that a lot of people play and it is very CPU dependent. The better your CPU, the better your frame rate will be. The benchmarking for CSGO was done on the “Benchmark Map” that is available on the Steam Workshop. There were a total number of 3 runs that gave us an average of 240 frames per second. In this, the GPU was not being pushed to it’s limits but neither was the CPU. The CPU was being used as much as it could but it just couldn’t push past 250 frames per second. The cause of the low CPU utilization and framerate could be the incredibly high CPU temperature.
The CPU temperature when playing games was almost always above 90C. In all the three benchmarks, the temperatures reached 97-98C which is extremely high for a CPU. I suspect this caused thermal throttling but not to such an extent where the game was unplayable, however this isn’t good for the CPU in the long run and could become an issue. The GPU ran comparatively cooler running in the range of 75-85C but never really crossing 85C. The body of the laptop didn’t heat up much and gaming was comfortable on a desk. The side vent blew out hot air onto the mouse and my hand but that was mainly due to my positioning and isn’t something that most people will face.
The laptop costs ₹3,26,391 as of the time of writing this review on HP’s website which raises the question, is this laptop worth its price? It’s not very portable which means that you won’t be moving it around too much. The specs are great but the overheating that we faced could easily cause complications in the long term. However one thing remains the same, this laptop is a gorgeous piece of technology and everybody would absolutely love to get their hands on this bad boy.
The Razer Phone that released in the United States in November 2017 has finally been confirmed to be coming to India. The CEO of Razer, Mr Min-Liang Tan confirmed on Twitter that they were working on getting the Razer Phone to India during a conversation between Anuj Sharma a current employee of Razer and, Ershad Kaleebullah.
This is big news since there were a lot of people who wanted to get their hands on the Razer Phone but importing it was too much of a hassle for most people, not to mention the lack of any service centres which would also mean the lack of warranty on such an expensive phone. Mobile gaming in India has been rapidly on the rise and even though the Razer Phone might be a bit late, just the introduction into the market and giving people the choice of owning a phone that was specifically designed with mobile gaming in mind is a good step forward and hopefully, is the start of many other Razer products officially coming to India in the near future as well.
With Season 5 of Fortnite just around the corner, data miners have already been at it to get as much information as they can. The data miners found assets in the files that could relate to what the next season might be about.
The leakers have found assets that are very strongly hinting at a “Wild Wild West” setting. This is slowly being confirmed as a Horse Carriage has already spawned at one of the locations that the leakers have been discussing about, which known as “Moisty”. There’s also a leaked map that showcases the map to have a very dusty, brown and midwest vibe to it. While, another leaker claims that there are going to be multiple islands
There’s also hints of a new LMT game mode which will be a 50v50 match with infinite respawns and no building but, one person gets to be a Leviathan and the rest have to escort it while the other team tries to stop the Leviathan. Sounds like a very interesting and fun game mode that could get people hooked even more.
Along with all this, there’s also leaks for new skins that range from the 40s-60s American style along with other regular skins. The role of the rocket, however, is not yet known but chances are that it’ll be important to the whole makeover that the map is going to get soon. For more information about the leaks, check out Two Epic Buddies on twitter.
Gaming is considered to be one of the most harmful activities the teenage race has uncovered, even more harmful than the likes of drugs & alcohol. An activity so fatal that it destroys families and leaves the victim helpless. The perpetrator behind poverty, draughts, earthquakes & what not. Yes my friend, all of these horrors are caused by gaming. Be cautious.
Top 5 reasons why It’s so bad?
Reason 1: Often considered to be slow in class & poor in studies. Gamers are found to have a significantly better hand eye coordination than non-gamers. Yes, Mitochondria is the powerhouse of a cell, true, but good driving skills (hand eye coordination) can save your life one day.
Reason 2: It is commonly believed that gamers don’t have a social life, girlfriends or a friend circle. Sitting around all day like a couch potato. However, the bit about not having a girlfriend is true *Mr. Lonely plays in the background* (Very self aware). Online gaming enables many players to interact with each other, there is a constant communication between the players which in turn results in the development of casual relationships among them. Online gaming helps in improving social skills of players & helps them make new friends. Increased confidence whoopty-doo!
Reason 3: Poor eye sight & bad sleeping habits. Yes, as you non-gamers turn off the bedroom lights & lie down on your bed to check your phone one last time before dozing off, scrolling through endless social media posts in absolutely no light but your phone’s. Before you know it’s been 2 hours & you have blurry eyes. Super healthy! Yes, gaming does cause a poor eye sight if prolonged for hours, well, so does a normal activity of using your phone which is much more harmful.
Reason 4: Not a viable career option, you can’t make a living out of gaming.
Meet Tyler “Ninja” Blevin who only makes $500,000 a month by playing Fortnite. Yup, not a fruitful career option.
Reason 5: Time Killer & No Productivity. Many modern education institutions incorporate video games as a teaching methodology. Last time we checked history was a boring subject to study, not when you get your hands on Assasin’s Creed or the Call Of Duty, there is no better teacher than these two. Many modern education institutions incorporate video games as a teaching methodology.
We’re sorry, all of these reasons look more like benefits. Let’s move on & try to answer the real question as to why gaming is bad for you?
A sequel to a game that had an interesting concept but disappointed when it launched but slowly got good, The Crew 2 is a sequel with a lot of new offerings. The Crew 2 brings you new ways to explore the United States with the addition of boats and aeroplanes and the ability to switch on the fly. The Crew 2 has been developed by Ivory Tower and published by Ubisoft and is out now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. So, has this unique sequel learned from the mistakes of its predecessor or is it something similar with a shiny new touch?
The Crew 2 takes exploration to a whole new level with the skies and water bodies now being accessible. There’s a lot of different types of races and events like Drift, Rally, Street, GP and even different types of events for the planes and boats. You unlock these different events by getting more popular in the game world. However, there isn’t much of a story in this game. You start off as an unknown racer who has to make a name in the world of motorsports by winning and gaining followers which besides winning races can be gotten by doing stunts across the map.
Visually, the atmosphere for every location is bang on and the game is absolutely gorgeous. There were numerous times when I would get awestruck by how good the game looked like when you see a city in the distance during the night time while you’re on top of a huge hill, driving towards the city. However there are a few annoyances too. The game has Bad Level Of Detail which resulted on a lot of pop-in even on the higher graphical settings. This is something that really takes me out of a game and with a game this beautiful, this was a major annoyance. Another huge annoyance is the open world destructivity. It is hard to gauge what can be destroyed and what can’t and is a problem that a lot of people are complaining about. A small rock or bush can completely stop you while at other times you can just destroy most trees in your path. The vehicle damage system has also been greatly toned down and now your vehicle will only have slight dents and bumps unlike the prequel. In terms of performance, PC performance was good on a Ryzen 5 1600, GTX 970 and 16GB RAM. I was able to hit 60fps quite consistently with most settings on high. In the consoles department, the only console to supposedly hit 60fps is the Xbox One X while the rest of the consoles run the game at a locked 30.
Now the game has a few things that I feel hamper the overall experience. There’s no proper tuning for vehicles , you upgrade your vehicle by getting loot after races or after performing certain objectives. The loot ranges from common, uncommon, rare and epic with legendary loot coming in a future update. Another one is that the price for cars can be inconsistent. Some tuned out car can cost lower than a regular, daily driver car that you think would be cheaper than the aforementioned car. Some cars are priced exorbitantly high but are also purchasable by a microtransaction-based currency. Not to mention, that cars are of specific types so if you buy a Drift RX7 and want to use it for normal races, you can’t. You’ll have to buy a variant of it which is quite annoying and can push players to use microtransactions. Rubber banding was quite evident but didn’t really ruin my experience.
Now, in a game that’s titled “The Crew” you’d expect to be part of a crew and race together or against each other right? Well, the game allows you to do some of it as in its current state PvP is not in the game. Supposedly, it’ll be added in the future but honestly, what were they thinking? This is one of my biggest gripes with this game and left me very disappointed. While the multiplayer has half the features it should, the single player is basically non-existent. While the map itself is huge, there isn’t much in the world that makes it feel empty most of the time. While the car races are quite good, the boat and airplane races can be quite disappointing on their own.
Onto sound and audio. The voice acting in this is bland, boring and feels fake and forced. While the VA in Ubisoft’s other titles tend to range from good to great, in this particular case it was as if they made do with the bare minimum. Music is good and has different genres to choose from and even an option to turn it off if you aren’t a fan of the choice of music in game or get tired of listening to your favourite genre after an extended period of playing the game. The vehicle sounds in the game is probably one of the best in the genre. The engines on all the vehicles sound more than just ok, they’re a joy to listen to. As you travel across various terrains and different environments, you’ll hear the tonal shift that occurs due to the change in environment. The little ambient sounds that you hear like the rattling of a hood on a tricked out car or the slight noises of parts of your vehicle cling clanging together really add to it. However, there is a real distinct lack of change in audio when you go into first person mode since there doesn’t seem to be a shift to make you feel like you’re inside a car or riding on top off a motorcycle.
Ultimately, the game tries to do a lot but in the end, it just feels like it is lacking a lot of content. The push for microtranscations with the high prices for cars really hurts the game, not to mention the lack of PvP. While there is a great sense of exploration as you drive ,fly and boat across the United States with your friends, there still exists a feeling of nothingness in many parts of the game. I’m hoping that over time with patches and updates, the game might actually be worth its money but in it’s current state I wouldn’t really recommend this game unless you get it on a sale because it just feels very incomplete.
There’s been a leak about the upcoming Hitman game which has been titled Hitman 2. This leak states that it is based on the data recovered from the Hitman Server version 7.3’s assets which are stored on the official IO-Interactive Server. This pdf file which contains all the info about the leak further states that it also has information gathered from the Hitman: Sniper Assassin game.
It talks about the playable demo mission that was shown to the audience at E3 2018 followed by a mission titled “Hippo” which takes place in Colombia but the mission after that is what piqued my attention. The mission titled “Mongoose” takes place in the slums of Mumbai and has an optional target named “Dawood Rangan” which could be a take on the infamous Mumbai underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim. Information regarding the mission like Disguises and Location specific items are also present in this document.
This mission would mark Agent 47’s return to India in a Hitman game after Hitman 2: Silent Assassin’s mission which took place in Punjab. It is quite a coincidence that both the times he’s been to India it’s been in the 2nd game of a series from the Hitman franchise. There’s a lot of information about the other missions as well in this document and is quite an amazing catch by data miners.
