So How Powerful Are The New NVIDIA RTX GPUs? Real-Time Ray Tracing Explained

Nvidia has finally announced their new lineup of cards with the RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 which is all part of the Turing family. They have gone with a new naming convention by switching to RTX instead of GTX which they have been using for almost a decade now. A lot of people might be curious as to why they changed the name to RTX for these cards and what the Ray Tracing hype is all about so let’s shed some light upon this.

Ray Tracing is a rendering technique that generates an image by tracing the path of light as pixels. It’s what movies and TV Shows use to create life-like scenes using CG work. Ray Tracing is a very intensive process which requires quite a bit of processing power which is why it was only really used in pre-rendered media where there were no real-time calculations. While lighting in games has improved a lot over the past few years, it still never really hit levels of photorealism due to the fact that it was never Real Time. What Ray Tracing on these GPUs will do is actually process things in Real Time, in game which will create lifelike shadows, lighting, reflections and, sub-surface scattering. Since it uses a lot of algorithms to do it, the hardware will have to be quite powerful to be able to pull it off in Real Time.

What does all this mean though, you ask? Using Ray Tracing technology in games, we can expect much better and realistic lighting and overall visual fidelity. Reflections will be much better with accurate colour reflections, translucency and transparency. This is a big jump in terms of technological advancements and video game graphics because over time this technology will become mainstream as more and more games and GPU manufacturers start using this technology which in turn means that games in the future will look even more beautiful and “real” as compared to right now before. This could very well be ushering in the new generation of computer graphics and I’m quite excited to see how this technology expands and grows over the coming few years.

Improve PUBG Mobile Performance On Your Smartphone With This Specially Developed Tool

While PUBG Mobile is a significant achievement when it comes to how fully featured it is for a smartphone game, there are major gripes to be had with it on the stability and performance end. So much so that Tencent went ahead and released a “Lite” version of the game to support lower end devices. However, that’s not yet available officially in India, and even if you do download it externally, there are still issues with it.

However, this new fix, PUB GFX+, developed by a senior XDA member and uses some neat tricks to improve framerate, and more importantly stability.

PUB GFX+ Download Link – Here

The test they ran is on a One Plus 3, with average framerate of 30FPS. However, the framerate stability is 57%, which means that almost half the time you could expect framedrops and stuttering.

Once the PUB GFX+ tool was enabled, the difference is immediately clear – better framerate, and 87% stability. You will no longer be seeing framedrops as soon as you jump out of the plane or come up on a firefight. This mode is called Zero Lag Mode, and you can see the benchmarks below.

So there you go, download PUB GFX+ from the official XDA website, and see the results for yourself.

NVIDIA RTX GPUs Specs, Pricing, Variants, Release Dates (Leaked)

Mere hours before Nvidia’s official launch of the upcoming 20xx series of Graphic Cards, we might already have leaks and information regarding the upcoming lineup from very credible sources. However, it is not assured that this information might be absolutely true.

After a lot of rumours and different leaks, we finally know that the upcoming series is going to be the 20xx series and will feature the RTX branding instead of the GTX one. However, there seems to be a bit of a confusion in that aspect. While the 2080 Ti, 2080 and 2070 will have the RTX tag, sources say that the 2060 will NOT use the RTX tag but rather the GTX tag. This is to imply that it might not have the new Ray Tracing feature since it might not be powerful enough.

Another piece of information that we have is the price for the upcoming 2080 Ti. According to PNY’s listing that was posted on Reddit, the 2080 Ti Overclocked XLR8 Edition will cost you about $899-$999. While this is quite the jump from the current 1080 Ti MSRP of around $700, it could also be a placeholder price for now. The RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 is set to be announced and launched at Nvidia’s Gamescom conference with rumours suggesting that the RTX 2070 and GTX/RTX 2060 being released around late October or early November.

The information that we have regarding the 2080 Ti strongly suggests that it is going to be quite the jump in performance from the GTX 1080 Ti but how much it will is unknown at this point. We can, however, guess a rough estimate based on the difference in CUDA Cores and the fact that it will use the new GDDR6 memory. This means that we can maybe expect a 10%-15% increase in performance between the two generations as seen from the difference in their specs below.

Another interesting leak is the “Dual Fan” Founders edition of the 2080 Ti. Unlike the Founders Edition cards of previous years, this new card will feature a dual fan setup which may mean they’re not going for the blower style design for this specific card and opting for a better cooling solution.

Thankfully, in a few hours time, we’ll know for sure what Nvidia has in store for us. You can go here to watch Nvidia’s Livestream and to read more about their upcoming conference.

Watch NVIDIA’s Reveal Of New RTX 2080 GPUs Tonight At Gamescom 2018

You know. We know you know. You know we know you know. – NVIDIA, Gamescom 2018

Alright, so NVIDIA is all set to “reveal” their upcoming GPU line-up tonight. While, we’re not exactly sure what else there is to know about what NVIDIA has in store, since almost all details about the RTX 2080 have leaked, including some variants, specifications and even pricing, the conference should be interesting nonetheless.

NVIDIA will be showcasing some of the most graphically intensive upcoming games, including Battlefield V, Metro Exodus, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and many other games. This is what we are eager to see – performance benchmarks.

You can watch the stream here:

Watch live video from NVIDIA on www.twitch.tv
Some rumored speculations have said that these new GPUs have 6 times the performance output in comparison to their last gen counterparts. However, that’s not meant to be taken as 6 times the framerate, instead, it implies more powerful lighting, ray tracing, and AI processing powers. It’ll be interesting to see what developers will do with this newly available power, and we’ll hopefully know more specifics tonight.

Battlefield V Gamescom Trailer: Battle Royale Mode Looks Amazing

With Gamescom 2018 days away, EA DICE gave players a taste of what’s to come in Battlefield V. In a hauntingly beautiful trailer that is mixed with gameplay and cutscenes, we get to see the devastation of Rotterdam.

With a new rendition of “House of the Rising Sun” playing, we get to watch the destruction of Rotterdam from different POVs. With explosions all around, planes whizzing above and bullets all over, destruction is inevitable. We see footage from a soldier’s perspective, a tank operator’s and also various flying shots to show the scale of the fight.

While the various scenes helped build the tension and hype the players up, it was the final scene that took the cherry on the cake. What we see is a Ring of Fire slowly envelope an area as people within are fighting for survival.

If you hadn’t guessed already, that’s EA Dice teasing the Battle Royale mode. Unlike games where an invisible blue circle closes in on you, having a Ring of Fire slowly get closer and closer must really put the fear of God in players. Safe to say, we’re excited to see what they have in store for us at Gamescom 2018.

Fortnite Update 5.21 Patch Impressions

Fortnite’s latest patch v5.21 has dropped for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Mobile platforms. This new update adds two Limited Time Modes(LTMs) alongside a brand new weapon, the Heavy Sniper Rifle. So, let’s take a look at the two new LTMs and the performance of the Heavy Sniper Rifle.

Soaring 50s

The first new LTM is a variant of the standard 50v50 mode and is called the Soaring 50s. This variant gives you the ability to soar a lot with the addition of a lot of vertical launchers in launch pads, bounce pads, and impulse grenades. The interest new mechanic in this though is the fact that you can re-deploy your glider if you’re more than 10 meters in the air. This adds a lot of verticality to gameplay along with the option to traverse the map quicker than usual by using your glider.

While regular 50v50 is chaotic in itself, the new Soaring 50s game mode makes it even more frantic since people will be jumping and flying all over the place in an attempt to use the provided verticality to their advantage. However, teams with bad communication can take a hit since players will get split up in the heat of the battle making reviving your teammates harder since they might be spread it out all over the place.

Sniper Shootout

The second LTM is Sniper Shootout. As the name suggests, it’s all about Sniper Rifles be it scoped or unscoped ones. This is an extremely fun and tense game mode because everyone has a Sniper Rifle and a single shot can be the difference between life and death.

After the initial constant barrage of Sniper Fire, things start to slow down and mind games start to come into play and it keeps getting more and more intense as time passes and the player count drops. This is an incredibly fun mode that everyone should try out and will also help players hone their sniping skills.

Heavy Sniper

Speaking of Sniper Rifles, the new Heavy Sniper is quite the mean machine. With less bullet drop as compared to other sniper rifles and the fact that it does 150+ damage per shot and 1050+ damage to structures, it is an accurate beast that you can use to annihilate enemies while keeping your distance.

To offset its power, it has only one bullet in its chamber at a time and has quite a long reload time. This means that your shots will have to be precise otherwise you could get into quite a bit of trouble.

Gamescom 2018: Top 10 Games To Watch Out For (And Some Hardware?)

For those who don’t know, Gamescom is an annual gaming convention held in Germany, beginning in 2009. It’s analogous to E3 held every year, with the difference being that while E3 is a lot more extravagant, Gamescom mostly features hands-on demos for games initially shown at E3. Also, Gamescom has been open to the public for a while, unlike E3 which only started allowing in the general public two years ago.

Gamescom 2018 is right around the corner, and while some trailers have already started coming out ahead of the show, there’s still plenty more to look forward to. Here are the top 10 games we’re looking forward to seeing at Gamescom 2018.

Devil May Cry V

While Devil May Cry 5 was officially announced at E3 2018, very little was shown of the game. We’re hoping to see some more gameplay footage along with a possible release date.

World War 3

Developed by Farm 51, World War 3 aims to scratch the same itch as Battlefield 3/4 did, along with a dash of Battle Royale added for good measure.

Days Gone – Hands On Demo

Everything I have seen of Days Gone so far screams mediocre. Either the AI looks dumb/dysfunctional, or the world feels generic. With the release date catching up to Studio Bend, I hope that whatever they have to show next is more promising.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 was easily the biggest thing at E3 2018, with the press clamouring for a spot at the behind-closed-doors demo. Well. we’re clamouring too this time for a similar spot, with the hope that a fully featured gameplay demo trailer makes it’s way to the public as well.

Rage 2 Hands On Demo

Rage 2 was a huge surprise to everyone, especially to anyone who played the first game. No one expected, or even wanted a sequel to 2011’s mediocre shooter, but after watching what they have done with Rage 2, I can’t wait.

NVIDIA RTX GPUs

With great power comes great performance, and significant power efficiency, and that’s what we expect of the upcoming NVIDIA RTX GPUs. while rumored specs and pricing are all over the place, it’ll be interesting to see what the final product looks like and how it performs.

New Xbox Elite Controllers

The Xbox Elite controllers are easily the best custom controllers that money can buy. And Microsoft seemingly wants to make it even better (and pricier..), so let’s see what they have in store.

The Division 2

I like a good grind, and the Division had it in heaps. The Division 2 seems to take all the learning from the first game, and add bigger and deeper mechanics to the game.

Battlefield V – Maybe A Look At The The Battle Royale Mode

A ring of fire, that keeps shrinking and bringing players closer into combat with each other? That could only mean one thing – Battle Royale. The last trailer for Battlefield V teased a bit of their Battle Royale mode, and I hope to hear more at Gamescom 2018.

Metro Exodus

We have already seen a significant chunk of Metro Exodus, and it’s looking bigger and more ambitious than either of the last two games on the series. I am mostly looking forward to seeing how much of their tech relies on the new NVIDIA GPUs, and how much extra juice they can squeeze out of them.
