Nvidia RTX 2080 Plays AAA Titles At 4K 60 FPS, First Benchmarks Revealed

NVIDIA has talked up a big game about their upcoming RTX series GPUs, with a lot of focus given to the real time reay tracing technology that we will see in many games coming soon. However, we didn’t get to see proper benchmarks, and there were rumblings in the PC gaming community questioning the RTX GPUs’ ability to deliver performance significantly ahead of the existing GPUs. NVIDIA has seemingly taken notice of the same and put out some benchmarks, that, without delving into hard numbers do give a tentative picture of how the new RTX 2080 performs.

GeForce RTX GPUs deliver 4K HDR gaming on modern AAA titles at 60 frames per second — a feat even the flagship GeForce GTX 1080 Ti GPU can’t manage.

For game after game, Turing delivers big performance gains (see chart, above). Those numbers get even bigger with deep learning super-sampling, or DLSS. DLSS takes advantage of our Tensor Cores’ ability to use AI. In this case it’s used to develop a neural network that teaches itself how to render a game. It smooths the edges of rendered objects and increases performance.

While these benchmarks are impressive, we will wait to see some more hands on reviews and real world tests before coming to a definitive conclusion.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds v1.0 for Xbox One launches September 4

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is all set to leave Xbox Game Preview with version 1.0 which will launch on September 4th 2018. Alongside it will come new weapons, Sanhok map and more. Further details can be read below:

While our team will continue to enhance the game and deliver new content to Xbox players, the Full Product Release marks the culmination of our efforts in Xbox Game Preview, where we worked closely with Xbox and the passionate and engaged Xbox community to regularly update, tune, stabilize and enhance the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds experience for Xbox One. We invite you to learn more about how the game has evolved on Xbox over the last 9 months and the journey to 1.0 in the video asset we debuted on Inside Xbox today in partnership with Xbox.

Fans can look forward to an updated experience for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One that includes:

  • The Xbox One debut of the Sanhok map. Inspired by the islands across Southeast Asia, Sanhok is a 4×4 compact battleground. The map might be smaller, but the battles won’t be, with speedier games and circle dynamics that have been adjusted to bring battles to a dramatic finish more quickly. Sanhok will introduce all-new weapons and vehicles in addition to the debut of dynamic weather changes for the first time on Xbox One.
  • The arrival of War Mode on Xbox One, a deathmatch-style battle royale gaming experience where players hunt each other in a static zone, respawning you back in with a parachute and weapons if you’re killed. Teams get points with kills and reviving teammates, and the team that reaches certain points in the game wins the battle. War Mode will make its hands-on debut on Xbox One at Gamescom 2018 in a can’t-miss experience in the Xbox booth.
  • Achievements that will carry over from Xbox Game Preview to Full Product Release.
  • The introduction of in-game currency to purchase cosmetics, Event Pass: Sanhok, which will allow players to open up more missions, more levels, and tons of permanent rewards on the Sanhok map, and much more. We will share much more detail about these products, how they will work and some of the cool content you’ll be able to unlock closer to 1.0 launch.

The full product release of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for Xbox One will be available in both digital and retail disc versions, with the retail boxed version featuring an all-new colorway of the game’s iconic key art.

To celebrate the full product release of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds the retail disc version will ship with in-game DLC – the Xbox #1.0/99 Set, featuring an exclusive collection of clothing and accessories inspired by Xbox brand colors.  Current owners of the game, and new players who purchase the game digitally can download the exclusive Xbox #1.0 Set beginning September 4th for a limited time from the in-game lobby, featuring a white branded hoodie and sweatpants and a custom Xbox skinned parachute to drop into battle in style.

If you already own PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One you will receive a content update with all new content and features detailed above on September 4th in addition to the Xbox #1.0 DLC Set.

We’re also excited to announce the Xbox Wireless Controller – PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Limited Edition, which is available for pre-order beginning today and starts shipping to retailers worldwide on Oct. 30 for $69.99 USD. Drop into battle and survive the ultimate life and death fight with an exclusive design featuring a distressed black digital camo print and new and exclusive trigger grips to help you stay on target in the final circle. The controller will ship with exclusive DLC themed on the controller design – we will share more details about this in the weeks to come.

Thank you to the passionate Xbox community for coming with us on this journey. We’re so excited to take this next step with Xbox fans next month, and look forward to many more battles to come. For fans at Gamescom this week, be sure to swing by the Xbox booth to get hands on with War Mode on Xbox One exclusively for the first time and experience a variety of themed PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds swag and activities.

Resident Evil 2 Remake: New Gameplay And Info Revealed

Recently revealed at Gamescom, Claire makes her gameplay debut in Resident Evil 2! Providing a slice of her full campaign, Claire has her own terrifying encounter to deal with in the depths of the Raccoon City police station.

Claire Redfield has been on a mission to find her missing brother Chris – a mission that brings her to Raccoon City. Fans of the original Resident Evil 2 will be intimately familiar with the iconic scene of Claire riding into town on her motorcycle, shortly before meeting up with rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy and working together to escape the zombie hordes plaguing the city.

Surviving the streets of the once-lively city, Claire manages to make her way to the Raccoon City police station, hoping to find information on the whereabouts of her brother, Chris… but she finds something much more sinister instead. In this preview, Claire explores a new portion of the R.P.D. before encountering a small, young abandoned child hiding in the sewers and waterways beneath the iconic station. Long-time fans need no introduction to who this child is, or the reason she’s running scared; Sherry Birkin warns Claire that a horrendous monster is right behind her, and the next chapter in her fight for survival begins.

A mutated figure wielding a pipe is out to crush anything that stand in his way, and sets his eyes on our heroine as nothing more than a roadblock to be destroyed. The resourceful Claire will have her survival skills put to the test, but has a few weapons at her disposal – including a grenade launcher packed with flammable rounds of ammunition.

Carefully navigating the machinery and steam coming from broken pipes, it’s hard to tell where an attack might come from next. Conserving ammunition is key, and knowing when, and where, to get a few shots in may be the only thing between survival and certain death in this tense encounter. Sending the creature over the edge will reunite Claire and Sherry, but for how long…?

Just like with Leon, Claire will have her own, full campaign that takes her through Raccoon City, the police department, and beyond. Familiar faces from the original game have received stunning upgrades in this remake, using the RE Engine to scan real people, right down to their clothing, to bring the heroes, villains, and world of Resident Evil 2 to life. The new Resident Evil 2 wraps everything up in an experience that both veteran fans and Resident Evil newcomers can enjoy.

With Resident Evil 2 coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 25th, 2019, you won’t have to wait much longer to return to Raccoon City.

About Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Your death won’t come easily. Introducing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a fantastical, dark and twisted new gameplay experience from developer From Software, creators of Bloodborne and the Dark Souls series.

Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, and published by Activision, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a third-person, action-adventure game with RPG elements. The single-player game puts players in the protagonist role of a hard-hearted warrior whose mission is to rescue his master, a young lord who is the descendant of an ancient bloodline, and exact revenge on his arch nemesis. Set in the re-imagined world of late 1500s Sengoku Japan; a brutal, bloody period of constant life-and-death conflict, in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice you are the “one-armed wolf,” a disgraced and disfigured warrior rescued from the brink of death.

In the game, players come face-to-face with larger than life foes; unleash an arsenal of deadly prosthetic tools and powerful ninja abilities to blend stealth, vertical traversal, and visceral head-to-head combat in a bloody confrontation.

Take revenge. Restore your honor. Kill Ingeniously.

Key Features

  • Kill Ingeniously – From Software delivers their best in class combat in this fast-paced, action-adventure game featuring all new mechanics.
  • Exploration is key – Players will experience the thrill of exploration and discovery in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice like never before. Through exploration, players can uncover new items, meet new characters, and encounter hidden enemies.
  • Armed – Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice gameplay is centered around sword combat, enhanced by a variety of prosthetic arm attachments that supplement or change the way a player fights. Achieving strategic mastery of “Sekiro” or the “one-armed wolf’s” techniques and abilities, from prosthetic tools, swordplay to stealth and the grappling hook is no easy feat. To overcome difficulties and bring each situation under control, gamers must discover, integrate and use a variety of new tools when heading into combat.
  • One-armed wolf – Play as a highly talented shinobi in the service of a young lord raised in isolation. After suffering defeat at the hands of a shadowy Ashina samurai seeking the unique heritage of your master, the two of you are separated. Deep in the mountains, in a dilapidated temple, you reawaken to your fate. You must take back your master and exact revenge on your enemy at all costs.
  • Hard to the core – Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a hard-core game worthy of the name From Software. Miyazaki designed Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice this way! Fans of From Software will find the gameplay challenging, yet fun and rewarding. The quality of combat, level of challenge, and creative enemies and bosses are something that can only be found in a From Software title.
  • Reimagined world – This reimagining of Japanese aesthetic blends a withered, yet vivid, world of the late 1500s Sengoku Japan as the age of warring states nears its end. Witness a world brought to its knees by constant bloodshed; a ravaged world on the brink of destruction. Explore these environments, rich with FromSoftware’s intricate design and steeped with secrets to discover.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is releasing for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 22, 2019.

As the factions face off against each other in a ravaged DC, they will fight to seize control of resources and locations – and for their very survival. The various needs and motivations from each faction will collide, triggering different encounters between enemy and friendly factions, civilians, and ultimately you as an Agent, creating a dynamic living world full of surprises.

UNITE THE CIVILIANS

Civilians have banded together in settlements to rebuild their society, but their very existence is threatened. Work closely with them to keep them safe and in turn, they will come to your aid and provide supplies and assistance to build up your base of operations, giving a deeper meaning to the people and the world around you.

A RENEWED DARK ZONE EXPERIENCE

The Dark Zone is an untamed area of the map with some of the best loot in the game. The Dark Zone is also the most dangerous area in the game, where fear, betrayal, and tension are high, as any other agent can turn against you and steal your hard-earned loot. In Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, this playground was designed to provide a fair and exciting experience to all players, regardless of their level of progression.
