Dota 2 TI9 has Highest Prize Pool in Esports History

Dota 2, a free-to-play MOBA that spawned into existence as a mode now has the highest prize pool in esports history.

Every year at the end of the DotA Pro Circuit(DPC), the conclusion tournament known as “The International” is held. The prize pool for this is funded by the items and Battlepasses that players purchase as a certain percentage of each purchase adds to the prize pool.

This year, The Internation 9 will take place in Shanghai and its prize pool has crossed $25 Million as it sits at $25,652,224. It is currently $6,172,768 ahead of the prize pool from last year.

In comparison, League of Legends’ prize pool was $6.4 million and Valve’s own Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s largest prize pool ever was $1.5 million.

The International 9 starts on August 15th with the Group Stages while the qualifiers start from 3rd July.

CD Projekt Red Working on 3 More Cyberpunk Games! Preview Demo Releases In Jan 2020

Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t even out yet and is about a year away but it seems like CD Projekt Red are already working on more games in the Cyberpunk universe.

In an interview with Polish news outlet Bankier, the President of CDPR Adam Kiciński was talking about how strong the pre-sales of Cyberpunk 2077 have been. Then he went on to talk about the other Cyberpunk Projects in development.

CDPR President Adam Kiciński said, “We’re working on three ‘Cyberpunk’ things – the main game and two more. These are three teams. We are also working on ‘Gwent’ and we have still an unannounced game in Spokko [mobile division]. So we have five working teams, three working on ‘Cyberpunk’.

One of the aforementioned games is a Multiplayer Game in the Cyberpunk world.  They did say that Cyberpunk 2077 will mainly focus on a singleplayer experience and a multiplayer mode may or may not happen but it seems like its already being worked on.

Furthermore, CDPR’s next big game will also be set in the Cyberpunk world which could possibly be a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. This is not speculation as it was stated by Vice-President Piotr Nielubowicz when he said, Our next big project will also be in the ‘cyberpunk’ universe, and we’re already working on it and treating it as a really big and innovative project for us.”

Besides the confirmed gameplay demo that we will see during PAX West, we will also get more information about the game at the beginning of 2020.

“A strong dose (new information about the game) should be expected at the beginning of next year, when the preview will appear. Then industry journalists will already be playing and writing about it “– said the president Adam Kiciński.

During this time, they will release a preview of the game which journalists will be able to play and write about which is something we look forward to as it will give everybody a better insight as to how the game plays.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Considering Game Company Acquisitions

Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Jim Ryan stated in a recent interview that they’re considering a Merger and Acquisition for game companies.

This is in a response to Google entering the gaming market with its game streaming service, Stadia. Ryan stated, “content becomes more important than ever”.

Furthermore, Ryan said, “Companies new to the games industry looking at the market with hope is something we definitely welcome.”

This is probably due to Sony realizing the importance of exclusive titles especially since they absolutely knocked it out of the park this generation. Even though their console is not as powerful as the Xbox One X, they’ve managed to be the choice for console players because of their great exclusives like Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, God of War, Uncharted, Days Gone and Spider-Man.

Cyberpunk 2077 Will Feature Snipers, Katanas and More Weapons

We’ve been getting more and more information about Cyberpunk 2077 ever since E3 but not a lot of that seems to spoil much about the game and same goes with this bit of info.

In an interview with GamingBolt, quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz spoke briefly about the type of weapons in the game. He started off by talking about weapon customizability by saying, “You can customize the weapons in a number of ways, you can attach scopes, you can attach silencers, things like those. It’s based, of course, on a specific weapon and how many slots for improvements they have. “

He further talked about the weapon variety available in the game. “As for how many types of weapons we have— I remember just a number of them. But we have quite many of them. So there are melee weapons: katana, hammer, knife, Nanowire — which is basically these wires that you can use to fight. But you can also use them if you’re a Net Runner to hack remotely into people or devices. On top of that we have a number of ranged weapons: we have heavy guns, light guns, light machine guns, revolvers, sniper rifles.”

The emphasis on freedom of choice and variety is constantly being stressed because they really want players to have their own adventure. If you want to use a knife, or a hammer or even if you want to be a cool cyberpunk samurai, you can do it.

I just hope there’s some sort of Neon Katana and maybe a Lightsaber that can be used to slice people because that sounds like a lot of fun.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases on 16th April 2020 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

GTA 6 “Project Americas” Inspired By Narcos; Will Make You a Drug Lord [RUMOUR]

There’s not been much regarding the next Grand Theft Auto title but according to a recent leak, we might have some details about the story and setting of the game. This leak comes thanks to u/JackOLantern1982.

If you’ve been wanting Vice City, you’re in luck because this is where the next Grand Theft Auto is rumoured to be set in. Besides that, there’s also a new location based on Rio De Janeiro and will also have a few missions in Liberty City.

You will play only as a single character in this, an upcoming wannabe drug-lord named Ricardo. The game will be set in the 70s-80s and might feature the music of that era.

Buildings will change-over-time and so will the vehicles in-game as time progresses. Older cars will also get more expensive and become vintage. Weather System is also important and phenomenons like Hurricanes and Floods will be present and will affect the game world.

The game is heavily inspired by Narcos and will feature “Chapters” like in Red Dead Redemption 2.

You won’t have a weapon wheel like in GTA V but will have only a few weapons on you like Max Payne. You will be able to carry your equipment in your car

The game won’t release for the Xbox One or PS4 and will be exclusive to next-gen consoles and PC. It’s rumoured release date is probably 3 or 4 years from now.

These rumours are pretty in-line with the leaks from 2018 which stated the same time-period and location but hinted at a female playable character. The leak does talk about a character named “Kaycee” who could be the female character leaked before.

You can read the full leak below.

  • The next GTA title has been in development since 2012 (1 year before GTA 5 launched). Production didn’t actually pick up properly until mid 2015. Even then it was on ice while the teams focused on RDR2.
  • It’s another Rockstar Worldwide Production, not just one or two studios, but all.
  • Codename is PROJECT AMERICAS.
  • Set in both Vice City and a new fictional location based on Rio de Janeiro, with some linear missions taking place in Liberty City (not open world), think Ludendorff in GTAV. Also been recently hearing about Cuba but I ain’t sure?
  • Game will balance realism and arcade. WON’T be as realistic as RDR2.
  • One playable protagonist this time. Male, not female, despite supposed leaks.
  • Set in 1970s-1980s.
  • You play as an up and coming drug lord-wannabe named “Ricardo“. Another key character called “Kacey” is a part of the narrative. You start off as a grunt doing runs as a cocaine smuggler from Vice City to the new large South American area before making connections with big time drug lords and making your way up. Multiple cities. There will also be a GIANT prison which will play a part in the game.
  • Will feature a “CHAPTER” system similar to a Tarantino flick or RDR2.
  • Weather is a heavy focus. Hurricanes, floods, etc.
  • Buildings change over the eras, vehicles too. This causes headaches apparently but they managed to nail a pipeline and get it working. So older, rare classic cars get more expensive as time progresses etc. Full economy. Next level.
  • HEAVILY inspired by Netflix’s Narcos.
  • They want to have an incredible 70s/80s soundtrack, but jury is still out on that one.
  • A younger Martin Madrazo will make an appearance as will his father who is a big drug lord at the time. You do some missions for the Madrazo family involving hits on other gangs.
  • Drug empire building is a mechanic similar to Vice City Stories but bigger. MUCH bigger. Think the GTAOnline system and dial it up to 10. There you have it.
  • You can only have weapons on your person. No arsenal in your back pocket. Think RDR2 and Max Payne 3.
  • Your personal vehicle (similar to GTA5 but can now change it) will be like your horse saddle in RDR2. All your equipment is stored in the trunk. Similar to LA Noire. You also store your body armour in the car. If you wear it, it appears, no longer just an invisible thing lol.
  • There will be tons of subtitle reading. Think Max Payne 3 amounts. Because the characters speak the language they’re native to. Very immersive. Like watching an episode of Narcos. Whenever you’re in South America, don’t expect to hear much English. Vice City however is a mix of everything. Mostly English though.
  • Last bit of narrative info, it will discuss topics such as HIV and the immigration crisis of the time. A fictional version of Fidel Castro etc. [REDACTED Red Dead Redemption 2 Spoiler]
  • Next Gen only. Not PS4/XB1.
  • Game is now their primary focus, alongside another title (which I believe to be Bully 2).
  • Game is still in Pre-Alpha so names, locations, details could and probably will change.
  • No ETA on a release date.
