Gears 5 Review- COGnitive Brilliance

Gears 5 is the much-awaited sequel to Gears of War 4 and it’s already become the best selling game for the Xbox exclusive platform including PC this generation and there’s a good reason why. It’s an extremely good game from every aspect so let’s take a look at what makes Gears 5 an absolute must play.

Let’s start off by answering a question that many people probably want to ask. Can a newcomer play this game? And the answer is yes, yes they can. The game has recaps for the original Gears of War trilogy and a separate recap for just Gears of War 4 in case you’ve played through the first three games but didn’t get the chance to play Gears of War 4 and want to get right into Gears 5.

While you might not catch some of the smaller character interactions or callbacks to previous games, you honestly won’t be missing out much and it will further get you to go back and play the older titles.

Speaking of character interaction, I really have to say that the story and writing are great. In a story that’s filled with burly men and space monsters, the interactions that take place between characters feel extremely human. Like when JD and Marcus have a disagreement or when Kait and JD talk about the aftermath of a rather aggressive conversation, it feels so right because that’s how a lot of us would react to such situations.

The story moments in the game are very heavy-hitting and all I’m going to say about it is, prepare yourself because I don’t think anyone was ready for what was about to happen.

And this story is brought to life with stunning visuals. The detail that’s been put into crafting each and every facet of the game just show how much this game means to The Coalition. From the scratches and dents on the armor to the massive sprawling levels that are as intricate as they are big, there’s no visual element at which you can say “yeah, that was just ok”.

The lighting is also a thing of beauty and even though there’s no Ray tracing, it never really felt like the game needs it because of how great the reflections already are. From the dark tunnels and building interiors that have just a few light sources and rays of light to the cities and open areas that are bathed in light, you can always see how nuanced the lighting is.

The impressive part is, it isn’t really hard to run this game on modern hardware because the game is extremely well optimized. Usually, you’ll see systems struggle to run the game well but that’s not at all the case here. Even on the Xbox One and One X, the game both looks great and runs great giving players the Ultimate Gears experience.

Speaking of the Ultimate Gears experience, this game nails what makes Gears, Gears. The cover-based shooting that the franchise has been known for is not boring or repetitive. With the weapon choices that you get and your trusty side-kick robot, encounters are never really boring or drawn out. On the intermediate difficulty setting, the game was fairly challenging and did not feel too simple or too hard. To me, that was the perfect difficulty setting to get an optimal experience but hey, they’ve added in various settings for a reason and that’s to make the game accessible and enjoyable for every type of player.

Multiplayer modes are aplenty this time around with Versus, Horde and Escape along with the campaign co-op mode that supports up to three players that too with split-screen. In this mode, two of the players are humans while the third player plays as Jack, the robot support who can get pretty OP. Meanwhile, Versus is a Player vs Player game mode, Horde is a survival mode where you take on waves after waves of enemies and Escape where you along with two other teammates try to escape a hive after setting off a bomb inside.

There’s plenty of variety for everyone which means that whether you want to play solo or co-op with friends or with random strangers online, you have the ability to do that with all the various modes available to you.

Now on PC, you might have issues with the Xbox Beta app or the Windows Store acting up so make sure to update Windows and all the Xbox related applications fro the Windows Store. I struggled with running the game when I tried installing it on a 2nd PC and after re-downloading the game 2 whole times, it still threw me an error that when googled didn’t help much. The only thing that fixed it was downloading those Xbox-related updates which hadn’t been auto-updated for whatever reason.

In conclusion, Gears 5 is an absolute masterpiece that will please Gears veterans and newcomers alike. With its relatable characters, touching story-telling, gorgeous visuals, and fun gameplay, you’re most likely to absolutely love this game and understand why this is the best game to have come out on the Xbox platform this generation.

excellent audience for detail-oriented strategy games like World of Warships and we are excited to bring them a customised experience. We only see the exponentially growing appetite for immersive gaming in the country getting bigger, and that’s great news for new genres. Our belief that this is a
substantial market set to explode has led us to build and develop a whole new range of immersive content that augments the already exceptional gameplay.”

In addition to ACT Fibernet, Wargaming’s partnerships with some of the country’s leading gaming product companies like LG, Zotac, and Ant esports are another reason for excitement. Samar Deep, Product Marketing Manager IT, LG Electronics, India, says “We’re very excited to
partner with World of Warships, the perfect game to highlight the advantages of LG Ultragear Gaming Monitors, especially our popular lineup of Ultrawide monitors“

Deepak Gupta, Country Head, India, at ZOTAC also announced the launch of India-specific bundles, stating that, “As the market leader in India, we’re glad to be the first to officially offer India specific bundles for our range of ZOTAC Gaming GPU’s starting from GT 1030 series going up to GTX 16

Jain, Director at Ant esports believes that the company’s existing user community will provide great support for new developments such as special edition products and bundles, saying, “We’ve been overwhelmed by the community’s response to our latest lineup of products that have disrupted the
market and now we’re moving forward with collaborations with World of Warships for not only bundles but also Special Edition products early next year for our ever-growing community“

The World of Warships India model will continue to operate on its free-to-play, pay-to-progress framework where players can enjoy the game for free while making small investments to unlock additional content faster. Cognizant of India’s price sensitivity, Wargaming will customise in-game pricing for the local audience, following our experience of entering new markets and best practices for connecting with the Indian audience.

The Cyprus-based Wargaming, founded by Belarussian chess prodigy Victor Kilsyi, is a world-leader in historically accurate MMO combat games by both popularity and profitability. Inspired by Mr Kilsyi’s obsession with military history and strategy games, the company boasts over 200 million
registered users drawn to their combination of stunning graphics, incredible attention to detail, and immersive gameplay. Its concerted foray into the India market is set to be another milestone in the company’s stellar journey.

As the Official PC Partner for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, NVIDIA is working side by side with Activision and Infinity Ward to bring real-time ray tracing, and NVIDIA Adaptive Shading to the game. NVIDIA, Infinity Ward and Activision are working together to take the graphics in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to never before seen levels which you can see in our ray tracing reveal trailer from Gamescom 2019.

The Ray Tracing Revolution

Real-time ray tracing is changing the way games are created and dramatically increases the image quality they can achieve. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is yet another huge AAA title that is using ray tracing to create stunning visuals. This announcement illustrates the momentum that ray tracing is building in the gaming ecosystem.

Nubia Red Magic 3 Gaming Smartphone Review

Enough with PC gaming and hardware. Everyone is only talking about smartphones these days. And you know what? That’s exactly what we’re going to do too. I mean we already unboxed the Red Magic 3 last week, so might as well find out how good the phone actually is. So, without further ado, here’s our review of the Nubia Red Magic 3 gaming smartphone.

The Red Magic 3 is probably the most affordable gaming phones that you’ll find in India. Starting at a price point of INR 36,000, it packs in a Snapdragon 855, the latest flagship processor from Qualcomm, a minimum of 6GB RAM, 128 gigs of storage and a whopping 5000mAh battery. And all this is brought to life by a 6.65-inch 90Hz AMOLED display. But that’s not all. To make sure the phone doesn’t heat up, it uses an actual cooling fan. Like the ones you see in laptops.

The phone is a looker too. At least our review unit, which is doused in bright red. The build is really solid too, and the phone is on the heavier side of the spectrum, weighing about 215g. It has an aggressive design inspired by sports cars, with the back of the phone house angular elements for that gaming feel. Along with that, the back side also has the camera, the intake vent for the cooling fan, the primary 48 MP camera with Sony IMX586 sensor, the backlit Red Magic 3 logo, the fingerprint sensor and an esports inspired, customizable RGB Strip. The volumer rocker, power button and exhaust vents are located on the right side along with the shoulder triggers, while the left side has the SIM tray, pin connector for the dock and the Game Mode button, but we’ll talk more about that later. The bottom side has the USB Type-C charging port while the top has a 3.5mm audio jack. Here’s a funny thing. One reason that companies use for not having an audio jack is a bigger battery, but the Red Magic 3 has both, so is that just an excuse for following a trend? I guess we’ll never find out.

Anyway, back to our Nubia phone. One thing that I do not like about the phone is that it’s big, like way too big. And you know what they say about people with big phones, don’t you? That they can’t use their phones comfortably with one hand. Yes, that’s exactly what I meant to say. But the phone still has a forehead and a chin. This certainly seems like a bold move in a world where other phones are moving towards an all screen front side, but there’s not gonna be any commendation for innovative design on that end. Personally, however, I’d take this over a weird looking notch any day.

The display itself is pretty frickin amazing. The AMOLED panel has vibrant colours that pop, and the 90Hz refresh rate makes it a delight to use. It feels smooth, fluid, responsive, and the internal specs are more than strong enough to ensure you don’t experience any sort of hitches. It’s everything you could ask for in a phone made specifically for gamers. Which means that now would be a great time to talk about the actual gaming performance and benchmarks.

When it comes to tests like 3DMark and Geekbench, the Red Magic 3 just blows the competition out of water. That trend continues in actual games as well, and the phone can handle even the most intensive games, be it PUBG or Asphalt or whatever it is you can throw at it, without a sweat. And your gaming experience is only enhanced by the added game mode and shoulder triggers. Launching the game mode leads you to a screen that shows all your installed games, and you can adjust all the settings from right here. Swipe in from the right and you’ll see a whole range of options, including metrics like phone temps, network speed and clock speeds for the CPU and GPU. Here you can also find handy buttons to enable the fan and the dock, as well as to disable any disturbances like texts and calls. After all, who wants to be disturbed while they’re occupied in an intense gunfight? Additional fan settings can be found on the top right, where you can select between intelligent mode for temp based cooling or rapid cooling to put it on maximum speed. And you can actually hear the fan at work, it is loud. But not loud enough that your gaming experience will be ruined, thanks to the booming sound from the front facing dual speakers. And the battery life is just the cherry on top. Not only does it last almost an entire day filled with hours of gaming, but can extend up to two days pretty easily on average use and light gaming. But if you think it ends here, think again. The Red Magic 3 also has a couple of really cool accessories, including a dock and a controller. The dock has three ports, a USB Type-C, a 3.5mm jack and, get this, an ethernet LAN port. You can activate it easily by the press of a button in the game launcher and just forget about lag. Additionally, there’s a bluetooth controller to help you, but it requires a specific cover, and can be placed on either the left or the right side depending on what you feel is more comfortable. Truly, this phone passes every check box you want covered as a gamer.

Now that we’ve checked what makes this phone a beast, let’s take a look at the camera. The Red Magic 3 has a single 48MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture, with Sony’s IMX586 sensor, the same one used in Oneplus 7 Pro, but the 7 Pro has a triple camera setup. The front camera is 16MP with a f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera takes pretty decent looking pictures in daylight, the color reproduction is good and the pictures seem to have enough detail. Even in low light, the camera is able to capture details well even though some noise is there. But the camera app itself is pretty basic, and even lacks the Portrait mode that seems to be a standard in most phones by now. But one feature that it does have, and this is the only phone that has it, it that it can record video at 8K 30 FPS. Unfortunately, we can’t really show it because our system couldn’t really handle playing it properly. You can also do videos at 1080p and 4K 60 FPS, but sadly there’s no stabilization. Apart from that the Red Magic 3 can also record slow motion videos at 1920 FPS.

Now, there’s a lot of things to love about this phone, but there are also a few minor things that just seem a bit inconvenient. One obvious being the size of the phone which can be little hard to fit in pockets that for some reason seem to be getting smaller and smaller every day. Moreover, it’s pretty easy to accidentally unlock the phone using the fingerprint scanner while putting it in the pocket. But this is could totally be just me, because overall, the Red Magic 3 is simply a delight. It looks good, performs better and has features that can make every gamer drool out of every orifice in their body. Camera performance could be better, but apart from that, this is pretty much the best gaming smartphone you can get that hits that sweet spot between price and performance.

Kingston Technology Takes Top Spot as DRAM Module Supplier

Kingston Technology Company, Inc., a world leader in memory products and technology solutions, today announced it has been ranked the top DRAM module supplier in the world, according to the latest rankings by DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce. Kingston retains its number 1 position with an estimated 72.17 percent market share, according to TrendForce. Their findings reinforce Kingston’s position in the marketplace as the leading third-party supplier of DRAM modules. The rankings for 2018 mark the 16th consecutive year that TrendForce has placed Kingston in the top spot.

TrendForce states that spot prices stayed high in 1H18, even surpassing contract prices by over 20 percent. Despite rising inventory levels and price decreases in 2H18, the report indicates module manufacturers were still able to generate plenty of revenue and profit. Some of the prominent trends and growth drivers the market is witnessing include the growing popularity of online media streaming, recent technological developments in IoT, and the shift to data center and Cloud computing services.

“While Kingston considers TrendForce’s estimates overly generous, it nonetheless follows the trajectory of the company’s growth in all of its business segments,” said Mike Mohney, DRAM business manager, Kingston. “In 2018, we were able to produce over 14 trillion MBs of memory across all product lines including DRAM, SSDs and embedded solutions. This massive amount, tremendous good fortune, and the findings from TrendForce reinforces our company’s strength, position and importance as a whole in the industry.”

For more than 30 years, Kingston has created memory products and storage solutions that empower innovation. Today, Kingston ships to 125 countries and employs over 3,500 people around the world. Kingston develops products to increase productivity and overall system performance, with solutions for servers, desktops, and IoT devices. Kingston makes technology solutions that facilitate people’s everyday needs and supports them wherever they are.

Death Stranding Briefing Trailer Gives Us Much Needed Answers

Kojima Production’s Death Stranding ‘s showings at the Tokyo Game Show have begun and the first piece of trailers to be shown is the briefing trailer.

This briefing trailer breaks down the story and seems to be the same video from Gamescom that was shown behind closed doors. This trailer essentially sets up the plot of the game and helps the player understand what the main theme of the game is, atleast for now.

Minor Spoilers for the introductory story of the game as seen from the trailer so be warned.

The trailer shows off the relationship between Sam, Die Hardman, and Amelie as the latter two try to recruit Sam to help connect and bridge the United Cities of America together after the daughter of the now-deceased President Amelie tried to do but failed and was captured by an extremist group.

Sam has some sort of a relationship with these characters but then left their outfit after the death of Amelie’s mother and was subsequently stripped from all his relationship to their faction.

This is probably the first trailer that wasn’t a cryptic cutscene but rather a rather self-explanatory story cutscene that introduces the main plot of the game. However, it is yet to be seen if this is the introduction of the game or something that happens later on and is a flashback of sorts because you never really know with Mr. Hideo.

Fans who have been looking forward to the game can now rest easy after watching this trailer and if you’d like, you can skip the upcoming gameplay trailers if you don’t want to spoil yourself since we don’t know what they’ll showcase in those videos.

Many fans are happy with this trailer itself and feel reassured by it to trust Kojima with the end product and don’t plan on watching other videos about the game just so they can experience it for themselves.

We will have more information about the game soon so stick around for more Death Stranding and news from the Tokyo Game Show.
