Kingston Technology Takes Top Spot as DRAM Module Supplier

Kingston Technology Company, Inc., a world leader in memory products and technology solutions, today announced it has been ranked the top DRAM module supplier in the world, according to the latest rankings by DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce. Kingston retains its number 1 position with an estimated 72.17 percent market share, according to TrendForce. Their findings reinforce Kingston’s position in the marketplace as the leading third-party supplier of DRAM modules. The rankings for 2018 mark the 16th consecutive year that TrendForce has placed Kingston in the top spot.

TrendForce states that spot prices stayed high in 1H18, even surpassing contract prices by over 20 percent. Despite rising inventory levels and price decreases in 2H18, the report indicates module manufacturers were still able to generate plenty of revenue and profit. Some of the prominent trends and growth drivers the market is witnessing include the growing popularity of online media streaming, recent technological developments in IoT, and the shift to data center and Cloud computing services.

“While Kingston considers TrendForce’s estimates overly generous, it nonetheless follows the trajectory of the company’s growth in all of its business segments,” said Mike Mohney, DRAM business manager, Kingston. “In 2018, we were able to produce over 14 trillion MBs of memory across all product lines including DRAM, SSDs and embedded solutions. This massive amount, tremendous good fortune, and the findings from TrendForce reinforces our company’s strength, position and importance as a whole in the industry.”

For more than 30 years, Kingston has created memory products and storage solutions that empower innovation. Today, Kingston ships to 125 countries and employs over 3,500 people around the world. Kingston develops products to increase productivity and overall system performance, with solutions for servers, desktops, and IoT devices. Kingston makes technology solutions that facilitate people’s everyday needs and supports them wherever they are.

Death Stranding Briefing Trailer Gives Us Much Needed Answers

Kojima Production’s Death Stranding ‘s showings at the Tokyo Game Show have begun and the first piece of trailers to be shown is the briefing trailer.

This briefing trailer breaks down the story and seems to be the same video from Gamescom that was shown behind closed doors. This trailer essentially sets up the plot of the game and helps the player understand what the main theme of the game is, atleast for now.

Minor Spoilers for the introductory story of the game as seen from the trailer so be warned.

The trailer shows off the relationship between Sam, Die Hardman, and Amelie as the latter two try to recruit Sam to help connect and bridge the United Cities of America together after the daughter of the now-deceased President Amelie tried to do but failed and was captured by an extremist group.

Sam has some sort of a relationship with these characters but then left their outfit after the death of Amelie’s mother and was subsequently stripped from all his relationship to their faction.

This is probably the first trailer that wasn’t a cryptic cutscene but rather a rather self-explanatory story cutscene that introduces the main plot of the game. However, it is yet to be seen if this is the introduction of the game or something that happens later on and is a flashback of sorts because you never really know with Mr. Hideo.

Fans who have been looking forward to the game can now rest easy after watching this trailer and if you’d like, you can skip the upcoming gameplay trailers if you don’t want to spoil yourself since we don’t know what they’ll showcase in those videos.

Many fans are happy with this trailer itself and feel reassured by it to trust Kojima with the end product and don’t plan on watching other videos about the game just so they can experience it for themselves.

We will have more information about the game soon so stick around for more Death Stranding and news from the Tokyo Game Show.

MSI GS65 Stealth Gaming Laptop Review

A couple of years ago, you really had to choose between power and portability when it came to laptops. But that’s a thing of the past, thanks to cooling solutions better and NVIDIA’s MaxQ graphics which allow powerful GPUs to be used in slim form factors. But how good are they really? Today we’re gonna answer that question as we check out the MSI GS65 Stealth gaming laptop.

The MSI GS 65 comes with an 8th gen Intel i7-8750H which has 6 cores and 12 threads. Coupled with that is NVIDIA’s RTX 2070 MaxQ, 16 gigs of DDR4 memory and a 500GB SSD. And there’s a Full HD, 144Hz IPS display, all packed in a chassis as slim as 17.7mm.

In terms of looks and design, the GS65 believes in elegance in simplicity. The device yells premium with its black metal finish with golden streaks and highlights. Even the MSI Dragon logo on the lid gets the golden treatment. And it weighs only 1.8kg, there’s no problem in carrying it just about anywhere.

The left side of the laptop has the Ethernet port, two USB 3 ports, two 3.5mm audio jacks along with vents, while the right side has the charging port, the HDMI port, a miniDisplayPort, a USB Type-C port and one more USB 3 type-a port. Exhaust vents can be found on the back.

Opening the laptop greets you with the same premium finish, with the display having minimal bezels on the top and sides, and a steelseries keyboard sits between the speaker grills and the golden lined trackpad, which for some reason is extra stretched. The keys feel nice to press and are decently sized with adequate space, and feature per key customizable RGB backlighting. My only complaint is the lack of a number pad, which used to be there in the older Stealth series laptops. The trackpad is pretty smooth and responsive too, but the large size means it’s easy to accidentally brush your wrist and move the cursor while typing.

When it comes to performance, the MSI GS65 is definitely a powerhouse. You can use it pretty convenient for gaming as well as heavy tasks like editing, designing and rendering. Of course, the 2070 MaxQ is not as powerful as the full 2070, but that doesn’t mean the laptop has any problems running intense applications.

Even on the temperature side, the laptop does an acceptable job of keeping the hardware cool. The max GPU temperature we observed was 82 C while the max CPU temps touched 95 C. The keyboard gets a little hot so using it for long sessions can be a little uncomfortable, so you might need to buy a decent cooling dock. The fans do get a little loud under full load too, but considering that most people use headsets while gaming, they’re not loud enough to cause discomfort.

The display on this laptop is pretty impressive too, with bright and vivid colours, and ultra fast 144 Hz refresh rate. Gaming is smooth and fluid, with landing headshots feels simply amazing. The environments look great and the sound from the speakers is crisp and clear, whether you’re watching your favourite movies or busy in an intense gaming session.

Battery life, as expected with gaming laptops is average, with the device lasting just under 4 hours of average use including media playback and browsing. But gaming on a laptop always happens with a charger, so you probably won’t have to worry on that end.

At a price point of about 2.1 lakhs, the MSI GS 65 will definitely feel expensive, but premium products come at a premium price. And this is for people who want high portability without sacrificing on performance. That is exactly what this laptop offers, so if that’s what you’re looking for as well, you should definitely check it out.

Project Resistance Teaser Released; Hints at 4v1 Survival Co-Op Gameplay

The new Resident Evil game that has been rumored lately titled Project Resistance has had a teaser trailer launched that’s all CGI and no gameplay.

The trailer teases at the various monsters from the Resident Evil series and also the famous Mr. X who seems to be the level end boss. It looks like the game is going to be an asymmetrical survival co-op game similar to Dead by Daylight and Evolve where it seems to be 4 survivers vs 1 baddie who controls the monsters.

Maybe the game turns out to be more like Left4Dead and is primarily a survival game with an asymmetrical game mode but that is yet to be seen.

The game will be showcased at the Tokyo Game Show which runs from 12th September to 15th September so keep an eye out for more news in the coming days.

Hitman 2 Takes You to the Maldives in it’s Latest Update

Did you ever wish Agent 47 would get to take a vacation? Well, your weird wish has somewhat come true because Agent 47 gets to go the Maldives. But he has to kill people here as well.

This new map, Haven Island, will let you live out all your fantasies of going to a pristine island with crystal clear water so that you can relax and take out some of the scum that’s plaguing the world. Wait, what do you mean you’ve never thought about that?

Along with the Maldives, Hitman 2 is also getting a plethora of new Escalation missions.

September 5 / Escalation Contract / The Dalton Dissection

We’re going back to the bank with a bang. Brilliant.

The Dalton Dissection is a 3-stage Escalation Contract that has 47 starting with a restricted loadout, and cannot change disguise from the (lovable?) bank robber disguise. Expect this one to ramp up and fast. With new complications, targets and restrictions added, you’ll be bouncing around the bank as a bunny before you begin to believe it.

September 5 / Escalation Contract / The Covert Dispersal

If one Escalation Contract wasn’t enough for one day, we’ve got another one for you. This time; Whittleton Creek. This one revolves around the garden party.

Your mission is to take care of the undercover officers at the party. But please, try to do this in style. We don’t need you to become the biggest party pooper in town.

And those are just the two that start things off so pack your bags and get ready to fly across the world of Hitman for more assassinations, more disguises and more clever ways to do your job as the world’s best Hitman.

You can read more about the rest of the September Roadmap here.
