The Last of Us Part II Delayed to May 29, 2020

The Last of Us Part II has sadly been delayed by a few months as they feel the game is not complete yet and needs more time to be polished. In an attempt to get rid of the crunch culture, they have decided to take more time to deliver a much better final product.

Here’s what the Director of the game, Neil Druckman had to say:

To our fans,

Let me cut to the chase and get the news out of the way. The Last of Us Part II has a new release date of May 29, 2020.

I know. It was just about a month ago when we had our big blowout for the game, letting media play over two hours of it along with debuting our new story trailer and revealing the release date. The positive response we saw from our community was overwhelming. You can feel the energy among the team members. After working on something for so many years, it’s invigorating to get a glimpse of validation for all the hard work.

However, it was during the last few weeks, as we were closing out sections of the game, that we realized we simply didn’t have enough time to bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality. At this point we were faced with two options: compromise parts of the game or get more time. We went with the latter, and this new release date allows us to finish everything to our level of satisfaction while also reducing stress on the team.

While we’re relieved that we won’t have to compromise our vision, we’re disappointed that we weren’t able to avoid this exact situation. We wish we could’ve foreseen the amount of polish we needed, but the size and scope of this game got the better of us. We hate disappointing our fans and for that we’re sorry.

We hope you understand that this additional time ensures that The Last of Us Part II lives up to our collective ambition as well as our commitment to the highest level of quality. We know the extra few months will add to what may already be an excruciating wait for all of us. We are grateful for your patience and continued support. Come next May, you will finally rejoin Ellie in The Last of Us Part II.

Neil Druckmann – Director, The Last of Us Part II

Fortnite Chapter 2 Launch Trailer Shows Off The New Stuff

Fortnite was down for a bit last weekend after a blackhole sucked everything up. A few days after, we’ve received the first look at Fortnite Chapter 2, the next saga in the Fortnite world.

Fortnite Chapter has changed the game up. The good ol’ map that we’re all used to has been changed. There’s a lot more water now on the map because aquatic forms of transportation is a big part of this chapter. You’ve got boats for you and your squad, you can swim around in the water to cross river bodies and you can also fish.

that’s right, the game now has fishing where you can get loot and items by doing so. There are new ways to upgrade your medals now and even an ability to carry a downed teammate to safety. And this can be used in tandem with a Bandaid Bazooka that can heal teammates from a distance.

Chapter 2 looks to continue to keep things fresh for Fortnite and it’s already gotten millions of people talking about it and playing the game. There are no patch notes for this update because Epic Games wants players to find out all the new things on their own so we’re excited to see all the new additions to the game.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 Trailer Leaked!

Fortnite “ended” more than24 hours ago and while the world is currently staring intently at a black hole, the data miners have been at it and have managed to get their hands on the next trailer for the game.

This trailer officially announces Fortnite Chapter 2, the next direction in the Fortnite Battle Royale mode. As seen from the trailer they’ve made some changes to the game.

You’ve got boats. Yup, boats. You can ride them, get your team on it and have a full-on action movie-style gunfight on them. Or if you’re more of a pacifist, you can go fishing. Survival is stressful and there’s nothing more stress-busting then fishing away from your troubles as you crack open a cold one with the bois/girls.

And with the new chapter comes a new Season. Season 1 will come with a battle pass that has various ways to level up. Including getting kills, collecting material and finding loot.

You’ve got new rewards, a pogo stick so you can hop around the map with your friends and so many more costumes and cosmetics that if you have an impressionable child playing the game, you better hide yo’ cards.

The most interesting new features seem to be the ability to carry downed players on your shoulders in a fireman carry. However, you won’t be able to use any weapons when you’re carrying a teammate.

We’re still waiting on the official announcement to see all the various changes so hopefully, we shouldn’t be waiting too long and will get more information in the next day or two.

DOOM Eternal Delayed Until March 20, 2020

If you’re waiting to rip and tear some demons on Earth and on Mars you might have to wait a bit more because much to our chagrin, the game has been delayed.

The reason for the delay is because they want more time to polish the game as they feel like the game hasn’t reached a level of polish that they’re happy with it. Besides this, they’ve also announced a couple of things.

DOOM Eternal will launch at a later date for the Nintendo Switch and not alongside the other main consoles and PC. This is probably because the team who will work on the port will need more time with the final product to properly get it to work on the Switch.

DOOM 64 is coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4. It’s finally officially been announced but sadly you’ll have to wait until March 20th to play this as well. It’s currently being given out for free if you pre-order DOOM Eternal.

And finally, the invasion mode that they recently showed off where you could invade the game of other players will be added to the game post-launch as a free update. This is probably another thing they’re trying to polish and also will give players a solid singleplayer experience before they get invaded by people that might slow down the multiplayer experience.

At the end of the day, Id Software did a fantastic job with DOOM 2016 and with the talented team that’s working on the game and from what we’ve seen, I’d happily wait a bit more to get a polished, finished game rather than an unfinished rushed game that may hamper the DOOM experience.

PlayStation 5 Set to Release in Holiday 2020

After a lot of speculation and rumours, the PlayStation 5 has been officially and is set to release during the Holiday 2020 season.

That’s not all though, they’ve released a lot of information about the new controller that’s going to coming with the new console and about an exclusive or two for the PlayStation 5.

Let’s start off with the Dualshock 5. This time around, they’re switching things up with the internal motor as instead of using rumble technology, they’ll be using haptic feedback to give the players a more immersive feel when it comes to playing the games and the different types of vibrations that this will allow.

Besides this, they’ve also spoken about how the L2 and R2 triggers will be adaptive. This means that developers will be able to program the resistance felt when pressing the triggers to emulate the feel of drawing a bow and such. They’re going for much more immersive experience with the controllers and already have internally tested it and are quite pleased with it.

The controller will also have a bigger battery than the Dualshock 4 which means it will be heavy but not heavier than an Xbox One controller with Batteries. The controllers are also going to have better speakers but there’s no word about a headphone jack as of this moment.

Besides the controller, they’ve talked about a big exclusive that’s currently in development. They haven’t given out a lot of information about it but all we know is that Bluepoint Games, the team behind the Shadow of the Colossus remaster is working on it. Most bets are on it Demon Souls but another popular theory is that it’s going to be a remake of Metal Gear Solid 1.

Now that we have the official name of the Console and the release time frame, we’re excited to see more about Sony’s next-gen console and how they’ll take on the current market that’s slowly moving towards game-streaming.
