Blair Witch Releasing on the PS4 on December 3

Today, Bloober Team, the creative minds behind the critically acclaimed Layers of Fear games, in partnership with global content leader Lionsgate, call you back to the woods with the upcoming release of Blair Witch on the PlayStation 4. Earlier this fall, this psychologically frightening return to the Black Hills Forest, known to host the iconic Blair Witch horror, reminded us of the gut-wrenching fear felt with the film series and can now be downloaded digitally via the PlayStation™Store for $29.90 USD starting on December 3, 2019.

The updated Blair Witch, which will first be available for digital download and later via physical retail versions, will include gameplay and technical enhancements. Additionally, players will now be able to customize their canine companion in various ways to make Bullet their personal “good boy” with the addition of the appropriately named “Good Boy Pack”; which will include new dog skins; new in-game cellphone games, wallpapers, and content; and new animations for Bullet – making him even more realistic. The “Good Boy Pack” will also be available on PC via Steam and the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X via the Xbox Games Store and Xbox Game Pass.

Blair Witch offers fans, and players alike, their own descent into madness through an original story inspired by Lionsgate’s iconic Blair Witch. Set in 1996, a young boy disappears in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland. Players experience the horror as Ellis, a former police officer with a troubled past, accompanied by his trustful canine companion, Bullet. Their story starts as they join the search for the missing boy, but players shortly discover the horrors that await as the woods twist and turn into an endless nightmare. Ellis will have to confront his fears, and his past, along with the mysterious force that haunts the woods.

The first-person experience studies players’ reactions to the many dangers, stresses and tolls that the original story delivers, and results in one of various potential playthroughs. In addition to the horrifying psychological experience, there is a balanced display of the beautiful environments showcased in full in-game 4K; tricking adventurers to feel a sense of relief before venturing even deeper into the home of the iconic Blair Witch. Blair Witch is enhanced for 4K gameplay on Xbox One X and supported PCs via Steam, and will also be supported via PS4 Pro upon its digital release.

To celebrate the upcoming PS4 release of Blair Witch, Bloober Team and Lionsgate Games released a brand-new trailer and set of visual assets which can be viewed or downloaded via the press kit link above.

Everwild Announced For Xbox And PC

Even for a studio with as long and rich a legacy as Rare, today has been a special day.

At this evening’s X019 event in London, we were able to share with fans some of the incredible things that the different teams at Rare have been working on. This included talking about the next monthly update for Sea of Thieves, as well as giving fans a first glimpse of the next new IP from Rare, Everwild.

It reminds me of the last time we made two big announcements at an event, which was E3 2015 where we announced Rare Replay and showed the world the first glimpse into our unique vision for Sea of Thieves. This feels as big a moment for Rare as it did in 2015.

While Everwild is still early in development, we are very excited about the unique potential of the game we are creating. The Everwild team is focused on building an experience that allows for new ways to play in a natural and magical world. The development team, led by Executive Producer Louise O’Connor, is creating something truly original and incredibly special that aims to be more than just a new IP. Everwild will give you memorable, engaging and meaningful experiences for players everywhere to share. We cannot wait to share more with you in the future.

We are also pleased to share the next free monthly update to Sea of Thieves, The Seabound Soul, arriving on November 20. This update features an all-new, lore-focused Tall Tale mission for players looking to play their part in a thrilling story. Join Captain Pendragon to uncover the mystery of the feared ship, the Ashen Dragon, and reveal the secrets of a sinister new threat. For those yet to play a Tall Tale, these narrative driven stories are our take on a “campaign” but set within a rich shared world of Adventure. This update also brings the heat to Sea of Thieves with the introduction of firebombs! This explosive ammo can be thrown or loaded into cannons to put a fiery panic in the hearts of opposing crews in both Adventure and in The Arena. Added to this there are new commendations and cosmetics to earn and buy in the Pirate Emporium. You can play Sea of Thieves on Windows 10 PC, Xbox One and with Xbox Game Pass.

Having two large games in development represents a tremendous opportunity for Rare and the talented staff here as we grow and further evolve the studio to meet the challenges of simultaneously operating a successful live service and being in pre-production for a new IP. While Everwild and the team building it will get everything they need, we are still fully committed to Sea of Thieves — Joe, Mike, Shelley and the team still have plenty of creative ideas and plans to bring to Sea of Thieves for a long time to come and we have a number of central teams that support both games.

Finally, on behalf of everyone at the studio I’d like to thank all the fans for their tremendous support for Rare, from the millions of players who play Sea of Thieves to those that engage with our community playing together and sharing stories. It means a huge amount to us and it’s the passion of our fans that inspires our team to create the kind of games the world doesn’t have that are uniquely Rare.

Obsidian and Microsoft Announce Survival Game “Grounded”

During X019 in London, Xbox Game Studios and Obsidian Entertainment today announced Grounded, a new first-person, co-op survival game coming Spring 2020 to Xbox One digitally through Xbox Game Preview and with Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft Store, and on Steam. Grounded will be the first Xbox Game Preview title available with Xbox Game Pass.

In Grounded, players are shrunken to the size of an ant and tasked with surviving in the unique micro-world of a suburban backyard. Players must gather, craft and build bases with everyday objects found within the yard, searching for life-saving resources and living alongside giant, peaceful insects while fighting to survive massive hostile inhabitants.

Grounded provides a mix of environmental and narrative driven story telling. Set in a versatile, handcrafted sandbox structure it allows players to create their own experience from the ground up. Tasks that may seem approachable when human-sized become a challenge in this dangerous backyard landscape. This familiar yet fantastical world can be navigated solo or in four-person co-operative multiplayer, where players work together to complete missions or explore the intricately detailed world.

Created by a small development team, one of many working on new projects in the studio, Grounded is a true passion project. This title has given the team the creative outlet to bring their years of developing highly regarded games to bear on the survival genre. RPGs like The Outer Worlds will always be in Obsidian’s DNA, but from time to time we want to stretch our creative muscles and try things that might be a little different.

Microsoft has been a fantastic partner for Grounded which was in development long before the acquisition last year. We’re fortunate to be given the freedom to continue flexing our creative muscles and develop the games we want to make.

Curious for more Grounded details? Check out the all-new trailer, stay tuned to Xbox Wire for future updates, and join the Xbox Insider Program here for a chance to play before the official release in Spring 2020!

Shenmue III Releases Today, Check Out the Launch Trailer

About Shenmue III
Shenmue changed the face of video games. The series, considered to be the father of free-roaming, open-world RPGs, returns to the fore this year with the release of Shenmue III.

Shenmue III resumes the epic storyline started by master storyteller Yu Suzuki more than 20 years ago. Suzuki, a pioneer of open-world games and immersive experiences, is set to add a bold new chapter to the sweeping tale of young martial artist Ryo Hazuki.

Soon, players will be able to resume Hazuki’s breathtaking journey.

What is Shenmue III?
Shenmue III brings to life an exciting, living-and-breathing world, one filled with thrilling locales to explore, puzzles to solve, and enemies to thwart. Players take the role of Ryo Hazuki in a story-driven and revenge-fueled adventure with a cast of incredible characters. Powered by innovative and skill-adaptable Free Battle and Special Skill systems, Shenmue III is the sequel fans have been waiting for.

Players will find Shenmue III a deeply personal experience, with rich landscapes and towns brimming with action. Shenmue III is not to be “played,” but rather “lived.” Days in Shenmue III are spent exploring, talking with unique characters, and taking part in exciting activities throughout the world. As Ryo, players grow and master their kung-fu power by training and gaining new skills, enabling them to face off against fearsome enemies.

Each game of Shenmue III, as with each person’s life, will be a unique adventure.

Who is Shenmue III for?
Shenmue III isn’t just for fans of the series. It’s for everyone.

Yu Suzuki’s newest adventure blends elements from beat-’em-ups, simulations, and RPGs, but is designed for people of all levels of skill and experience. The immersive world of Shenmue III will appeal to everyone who loves a good story, great characters, and beautiful environments.

What if I haven’t played Shenmue and Shenmue II?
Don’t worry! Shenmue III includes a special “recap digest” movie created by Yu Suzuki that retells Ryo Hazuki’s story from the beginning. Players can also speak to non-player characters they encounter to learn all about the events of the first two Shenmue games.

Key Features
• Epic Story from the Mind of Yu Suzuki – Yu Suzuki has created some of the best video games ever made, including Space Harrier, Daytona USA, and Virtua Fighter. Now, he returns to write and direct the third installment in the beloved Shenmue series. In Shenmue III, players can expect a rich, deeply enthralling story and an unparalleled journey across China.

• Realistic and Compelling Characters – The Shenmue series has been known for its inimitable characters, and Shenmue III continues this tradition. Players exploring Shenmue III’s vibrant world will find it populated with all manner of villagers, shopkeepers, villains, and heroes.

Plan 8 Announced by Pearl Abyss For PC and Console

Seung-ki Lee (Lead Producer)

“Hello, everyone. My name is Seung-ki Lee, the lead producer of PLAB 8. PLAN 8, the title I’m going to introduce today, is quite unique. PLAN 8 is the first ever shooter genre title to be introduced by Pearl Abyss. In addition to its action-packed gameplay and realistic in-game graphics, PLAN 8 offers an open world MMO element of play that adds to the blood-pumping excitement unique to the shooter genre. The name PLAN 8 is closely tied to the mysterious setting of the world. We’re planning on revealing some hints regarding its meaning when the opportunity arises in the future, so be on the lookout! In addition, we plan to release the game first on console and PC.

“I’d now like to use this opportunity to highlight two aspects of the game. The first aspect concerts the genre of PLAN 8. From the outset, we aspired to develop a next-generation shooter and really aimed to create something above and beyond the conventions of shooter games already out there. This is why we’re aiming to develop a vast open world and a profound worldview for PLAN 8. We’re also really placing an effort to develop an interesting and suspenseful story that unfolds in the world of PLAN 8.

“Pearl Abyss has plenty of experience developing MMORPGs. We combined our know-how of MMORPG development and combat-driven styles of play to develop an entirely new game for the shooter genre.

“From what I’ve told you so far, you’ll find it difficult to define PLAN 8 into a single genre such as a shooter game. Our team aims to create a unique shooter genre title with elements of MMO styles of play. To do so, the team is poised to realist its vision of developing this unique title by harnessing Pearl Abyss’ proprietary game engine and its development know-how. Not tot mention, we also have Counter-Strike co-creator Minh Le on board the team.”

Minh Le (Technical Adviser)

“It’s a great honor for me to be here and to help present this new project PLAN 8. I’ve been working at Pearl Abyss for a few years now, and every day I get to see the amazing work that my co-workers are creating for this game. It just makes me really excited to be a part of this project. We’re calling PLAN 8 an ‘exosuit MMO shooter.’ The ‘exosuit’ refers to robot gear that the players can wear that gives them amazing abilities. We’re going to have a lot of different types of gear that players can wear, and this will open up some amazing unique gameplay that has never before been seen in any game.”

Crimson Desert Announced For PC and Consoles

“Hello, everyone. My name is Jason Lung, the lead producer of Crimson Desert. The beginning of Crimson Desert can be traced back to the vast desert that spans across the world of Black Desert. You could even say that Crimson Desert was born of a desire to tell the story of Black Desert‘s past. With the exception of a few identifiable in-game homages, we created entirely new worldviews, religions, and characters unique to the world of Crimson Desert worthy of a true epic. Thus was born our next flagship title that continues on with the ‘desert’ theme. This is how Crimson Desert came into existence.”

“Crimson Desert‘s subtitle, ‘A Saga Written in Blood,’ encapsulates the epic events that will test our mercenary heroes. Blood will be spilled. The character you see in our key art is Macduff, son of Martinus. He’s the leader of a ragtag band of mercenaries. Here is a man in constant turmoil, struggling with the responsibilities of leadership and the survival of those who rely on him, and a tragic past that no matter how hard he tries, he cannot escape from. As such, Crimson Desert is a story of growth and resilience. It is a story of mercenaries plagued by hardship and pain, and their endeavors to survive in a hostile world.”

“Crimson Desert tells the story of many different characters, whose fates are entwined with the main character and his band of mercenaries. Each has their own unique settings and tales to tell, affecting everything from the decisions they make, down the gear they equip. And it doesn’t end with our main band of mercenaries. The lands are full of other mercenary groups, each with their own distinct personalities and inclinations.”

“Crimson Desert offers an immersive single-player campaign teeming with engaging quests based on the exploits of the many mercenaries you’ll find available for hire, as well as a vast amount of content based around a more traditional MMORPG format. Here lies a world designed for you to freely enjoy, with various content at the high levels expected of a next-generation MMORPG.”

“Players will face many dangers in the world of Crimson Desert. A diverse range of creatures, both big and small, threaten your survival. This is a world of mythical creatures who are neither friend nor foe, cruel mercenaries vying for blood, and powerful figures conspiriing in the shadows of the royal court. You cannot let your guard down. To survive these bigger threats, you must learn to make strategic choices, all brought excitingly to life through Pearl Abyss’ unique, action-driven combat system.”

“But as many of you will know, your biggest friend and foe in any MMORPG is the other player right beside you.
