Gamedec Developer Diary – Introducing Low City

Explore the dark and neon-filled environment of Gamedec’s Low City, thanks to a new video from this story-driven, cyberpunk-themed, adaptive RPG

Put on your trench coat and immerse yourself in the dystopian, futuristic universe of Gamedec. Discover what Low City is really like and what role it will play in your life as a XXII-century detective. Learn about the approach that Anshar Studios took while creating this alternative reality and find out more about the inspirations that led the author of the Gamedec saga to such design choices. Watch the first development diary of this extraordinary, story-driven RPG, and remember that you are the sum of your choices in Gamedec.

Warsaw City, where Gamedec takes place, isn’t officially divided into districts, but everyone knows if they’re in the upper, middle, or lower part of town. The inhabitants of these three areas have completely different qualities of life. In today’s video, Łukasz Hacura, an executive producer from Anshar Studios, together with Marcin Przybyłek, author of the Gamedec saga, explain the complexities of Low City. Watch the video and transport yourself to a place where natural light does not reach.

Low City is a place where, even on a sunny day, it’s so dark you can’t get by without artificial lighting. It’s where apartment prices plummet, Public Transport Tubes terminate, and aurocar stops start to show up.
The lower you get, the lower the population becomes. At the very bottom, called RoU (Roof of the Undercity), you can find both deserted places and areas bustling with life.

If you stand on the lowermost walkway of Low City and look 150 meters down, you will see the mist and dust-covered ruins of Old Warsaw. That’s Undercity. Inhabited by savages who rejected civilized life and nasty creatures like poisonous bats or toxic, mutant rats. Low City is protected from those oddities by MG buoys. Whenever they detect a bat approaching or a rat climbing one of the towers, they open fire, eliminating the menace.

Temperature disparities between Low City and Mid City can cause weather anomalies like dirty rains, created by vapor condensation under the walkways of Mid City.

Low City’s biggest allure are the night clubs that are open 24/7. If you don’t come from this polis layer and you intend to visit it, take a few words of advice.

First, watch your account. Don’t let any suspicious-looking individual, even a kid, come near you without a good reason. Second, don’t believe everything you’re told. Third, think twice before going online using local equipment: it’s all knockoffs and patched-up salvage, infusion liquids are not original, and a “cheap gamepill” can damage your metabolic pathways.

So, if you decide to use local devices or medications – do it at your own risk.

Oh, and pay some kid to watch your stuff while you’re in VR. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

If you like what you see, you can add the game to your Steam Wishlist. Make sure you don’t miss any updates! Gamedec is currently under development, and its release is planned for 2020.

Gris Releasing on the PS4 on November 26

Hello there! Nomada Studio (that’s us!) and our good friends at Devolver Digital are thrilled to announce that Gris’ dreamlike world will arrive on PlayStation 4 on November 26! Our team are long time PlayStation fans and we’re so pleased to be able to bring our debut project to the PlayStation community.

It’s been quite the undertaking and we took our time to get it perfect because we wanted to deliver to you the absolute best version of Gris possible. Gris has been praised and awarded honors for the visual design, hand drawn art, and fluid animation so we wanted the PS4 version to be an absolute marvel to look at in motion. Our artists and designers went over the game in meticulous detail, updating each of the game’s beautiful scenarios. The art team revamped over five thousand unique assets to 2x – 4x higher resolution to take advantage of the PS4 Pro and 4K displays. Similarly, the majestic score from Berlinist was integrated into the game with less compression so that the music and audio design all sound cleaner and brighter. Additionally, we added some ‘quality of life’ improvements and a PlayStation-exclusive secret homage to one of our favorite games and an inspiration for Gris.

On a more personal note, we would like to take a moment to express what an honor it is to even share a platform with thatgamecompany’s Journey, a game than not only did we love when we played it on PlayStation 3 but that has also become a great inspiration during these last few years! We hope that players find a similar level of emotional engagement with Gris and see how the iconic Journey influenced the design and feeling of Gris.

Gris will be available at PlayStation Store November 26 and physical PS4 edition from Limited Run Games is available now from their store. We hope that you will enjoy this adventure with us and we look forward to the emotional journey the PlayStation community will take with Gris.

Roger Mendoza – Programmer, Nomada Studio

PUBG Mobile Getting Death Race Mode and Snowy Erangel in Next Update

We’ve seen a consistent stream of content coming in for PUBG Mobile, and it seems like Tencent wants to keep that going with the next update as well. They’re planning to bring some major new additions to the game with 0.16.0 update, as it’s being called, the details of which you can find out below.

As revealed by Mr GhostGaming, there will be three major changes that we can expect to see:

Death Race Mode:

PUBG will be adding a Death Race mode for players, inspired by the movie of the same name. The new event will allow players to battle against each other using vehicles, which will be fully locked and loaded with weapons and explosives. There will also be crates dropped (or spawned) on the race course, offering the players temporary boosts, with the main aim being eliminating all your opponents while racing against them across the course.

TPP to FPP Perspective Switch:

Players who have been craving some more immersion in their PUBG Mobile matches can now rejoice! Tencent is adding the option to switch between Third Person (TPP) and First Person (FPP) perspectives, just like PUBG PC. You’ll now be able to freely switch between the views on the fly, whether you’re on foot or in a vehicle.

Snow on Erangel Map

Looks like Tencent is getting into the Christmas festive season! We already have the Vikendi map for our winter battle royale matches, but the devs will be adding a snowy touch to Erangel as well. And it will be feature packed, complete with snow-tipped mountains, ski lifts, and ski boards. That’s right folks, now you can ski in PUBG, and not just the mountains either. According to the leaks, you should be able to use it anywhere on the map.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon Reveals New Enemy Details

A great variety of enemy characters appear in Yakuza: Like a Dragon—the most in the series history. A great number of enemies with RPG-like personalities and traits have been prepared, from power monster-types to magic users and thieves that steal your items. Several “families” of enemies exist. Most enemies belong to a family in which their strength level (grade) differs. For example, in the “Gangster” family depicted below, we see the weakest “Color Gangster,” the stronger “Mad Gangster,” the even stronger “Gangster Ace,” and the strongest “Gangster Boss.”

Gangster Family

From left to right, low grade to high grade: Color Gangster, Mad Gangster, Gangster Ace, and Gangster Boss. The Gangster family exhibits a different level of violence from the yakuza and hoodlums that cause trouble in the city.

The two lowest level members of the Gangster family (Color Gangster and Mad Gangster) only fight with their firsts, while the two highest level members (Gangster Ace and Gangster Boss) are tough enemies that mercilessly shoot their guns. Gunfire is a dangerous attack that cannot be defended against, so make sure to buy equipment and recovery items to protect yourself.

Military Family

From left to right, low grade to high grade: Military Otaku, Lone Soldier, Slice-Up Commando, and Armynater. With a kukuri knife in one hand and a bow gun in the other, the Military family can attack at ranges both far and near.

The higher the grade, the greater the Military member’s mastery of weapon-based skills such as knife slashes, grenade blasts, and rapid-fire bow gun shots. The highest level member, the Armynater, can shoot a “Destruction Beam” from its eyes. Whether it is human or not, it is an enemy shrouded in mystery.

New Delivery Help Characters

“Delivery Help” is a system that lets you pay in-game money to summon strong support characters that assist you in battle. Following the previous introductions of Delivery Help characters Slaughter Hell Basami Nancy-chan and Mr. Delivery Help: Gary Buster Holmes, today we will introduce two new characters.

Name: Kiyoe Shirakawa – Skill: “Madonna’s Soup-Run”

A recovery-type service where a kind-hearted woman makes a bowl of pork miso soup. The heart-warming pork miso soup will heal all party members’ MP (Mental Points).

Name: Striking Falcon – Skill: “Idaten Dance”

A service where the leader of a bike gang assaults enemies with his bike. This attack mows down all enemies, and the heat from the tire has a fixed chance of inflicting the “heat damage” status ailment.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is due out for PlayStation 4 on January 16, 2020 in Japan, and in 2020 in the Americas and Europe.
