The 1v1 game mode was added to Call of Duty Mobile with Season 6. In this game mode, players find themselves dueling against each other in a short map. While this mode is similar to the Gulag matches in Call of Duty Warzone, there are many differences that add up to make this a full fledged game mode.
To make the game fair, there are upto three rounds in each match. The player who is first to get 5 kills wins the round. The match is won by the player who wins two rounds.
Since in this game mode, players have to play alone, it is harder for beginners to perform well in it. If you are having the same problems, the following tips will help you get better at 1v1 duels.
Get to know the maps
1v1 duels take place in one of two maps: Saloon and Killhouse. These are smaller maps in the game and Saloon was made specifically for this mode. It is important to know every corner of these maps so that you can surprise your opponent. Thorough map knowledge will also help you guess where your opponent might be as these maps have limited options for movement.
Select better loadouts
Every player prefers a different loadout. You need to be ready with the loadouts with which you perform better. It’s always better to be ready with multiple loadouts, so that you can switch between matches. Being flexible is really important for being good at this game mode. Many players prefer ARs and SMGs for these matches as they are good at close to medium range encounters. But snipers are sometimes effective in Killhouse.
Keep moving all the time
These maps aren’t made for hiding. If you stay in one spot, the enemy will easily get the jump on you. This means that it’s crucial to be on the move at all times. Being on the move will make it harder for your enemies to track you. Players who perform well in this mode always make sure that there is no pattern in their movement. This tip is linked to the first one as you need good map knowledge to be able to move effectively.
Deduce enemy’s playstyle
This is a slightly advanced tip, but it is one that separates a great player from a good one. In every match there are several rounds. Use the initial few rounds to identify the playstyle of your opponent. Some players play aggressively and some defensively. Use this information to change up your playstyle so that you can gain the advantage on them. This also means that you have to keep switching up your own playstyle so that the enemy can’t deduce it.
Play to your strengths
When a player loses a round, they get to choose a common weapon type that both the players have to use for the next round. Many beginners don’t think before selecting and directly go for their own preferred weapon type, which is usually ARs or SMGs. But if you lost the last round to an enemy who was using an AR or an SMG, you will still be at a disadvantage.
What you should consider is what weapon your enemy is using and select weapons that will make it harder for them to play well. For example if your enemy was playing defensively with an AR then select a launcher for the next round and blow them up.
