Epic Games Store Free Games of the Week- Hyper Light Drifter and Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden

With another week comes another set of free games from the Epic Games Store and this week we’ve got two really fantastic post-apocalyptic RPG titles. These games will be available from 14th August till 22nd August so make sure to get them.

Hyper Light Drifter

Echoes of a dark and violent past resonate throughout a savage land, steeped in treasure and blood. Hyper Light Drifter is an action adventure RPG in the vein of the best 16bit classics, with modernized mechanics and designs on a much grander scale.

Drifters of this world are the collectors of forgotten knowledge, lost technologies and broken histories. Our Drifter is haunted by an insatiable illness, traveling further into the lands of Buried Time, hoping to discover a way to quiet the vicious disease.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden

The humans are all gone. Scavenging through the remains of civilization are the Mutants, deformed humanoids and animals alike, searching for salvation or just something to eat. To survive, you and your companions must venture out to explore the Zone.

Maybe one day you will find the Eden of legends, the ancients’ haven in the middle of hell. That’s where truth awaits, the stories say. Maybe you will find your answers there.

Both games are available now and will be replaced by Fez from 22nd August onwards.

Epic Games Store has Started Adding Cloud Saves

Epic Games Store has been almost universally praised by developers and publishers while in stark comparison has been criticized by the PC Gaming Community. They’re slowly trying to change that though and are working to improve their client.

The Epic Games Store now has implemented Cloud Saves but it’s not available for every title. According to Tim Sweeney, support for all games will slowly be added over time but they’ve started rolling it out already.

While this is a step in the right direction, the Epic Games Store still needs a lot of work to be don. How they win over the PC gaming community is yet to be seen but at least they’re trying to work on the shortcomings of their store.

Epic Games Store is giving away For Honor and Alan Wake next week

Epic Games Store’s free games giveaway continues as next week we’re getting some pretty big games. And yes, we’re yet again getting two games.

While this week they gave away This War of Mine and Moonlighters, next week in August we’re going to get Alan Wake and Ubisoft’s For Honor.

Alan Wake is a great game that sadly never got a sequel. You play as Alan Wake, a writer whose wife goes missing while they’re on vacation and he now must solve this mystery while slowly getting entangled with the more sinister and mysterious forces of the world.

The other game is For Honor, a multiplayer game where you fight against other warriors using a fighting system that Ubisoft made for this game. The game is still going strong with new characters and seasons being added in and is one of the most unique multiplayer experiences.

These games will be given out from 2nd August till 9th August so make sure to get them by signing in to your Epic Games Store account.

Limbo is Free on Epic Games Store this week; Two Games Next Week

Epic Games Store’s free games keep on coming as this week there’s another free game. Limbo is the game for this week and after that, there will be two free games.

Limbo is a creepy side-scroller where you’re trying to find your sister while trying to dodge traps, solve puzzles and just stay alive. The game is available for free now and will be until 25th July.

After Limbo, Epic Games will be giving out two free games. This War of Mine and Moonlighter. The reason for this is because This War of Mine is rated M which means that it will be inaccessible to quite a few people because of Epic’s Parental Controls. So that nobody misses out, Epic is giving out Moonlighter as well.

In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.

Moonlighter is an Action RPG with rogue-lite elements following the everyday routines of Will, an adventurous shopkeeper that dreams of becoming a hero.
