Mortal Kombat 11 Confirms Kitana As Playable Character

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios today released a new Mortal Kombat 11 television spot revealing Kitana as the latest playable character.

The TV spot is driven by the universal concept that each of us has a fighter within that pushes us to fight for what we believe in. To bring the concept to life, WBIE tapped Create Advertising Group, Director Joe Sill and Plastic Wax to craft a world where everyday people possess the strength and powers of the iconic Mortal Kombat 11 characters. To further push this concept, Plastic Wax added visual effects, including Sub-Zero’s ice manipulation, Raiden’s lightning and Kitana’s steel fan weapons. As one person passes through the shadows, a different person emerges, heading towards their final fight.

The TV spot also confirms that Kitana will be joining the Mortal Kombat 11 roster. The 10,000-year-old princess of Edenia grew up believing she was Shao Kahn’s biological daughter and served as one of his deadliest warriors. When Kitana learned the truth, she fought against Shao Kahn’s attempted conquest of Earthrealm, eventually dying in battle. After being resurrected as an evil revenant version of her former self, Kitana now rules the Netherrealm alongside revenant Liu Kang, dedicated to the destruction of all the realms. Tune in to NetherRealm’s popular Kombat Kast livestream this week for an in-depth gameplay walkthrough featuring Kitana.

The growing roster of confirmed playable fighters in Mortal Kombat 11 includes Scorpion, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Skarlet, Baraka, Geras, Kano, D’Vorah, Kabal, Jade, Johnny Cage, Cassie Cage, Erron Black, Jacqui Briggs, Kotal Kahn, Noob Saibot, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Jax Briggs, Cetrion, The Kollector and Kitana, with more exciting reveals coming in the weeks ahead.

Mortal Kombat 11 is the latest installment in the critically-acclaimed franchise, developed by award-winning NetherRealm Studios, and will be available beginning 23rd April for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X, Nintendo Switch and PC. After years in hiding, living off his ill-gotten gains, The Kollector was captured and now faces execution, determined to destroy anyone in his path.

Mortal Kombat 11 Potentially Leaked By Disgruntled Voice Actor

Mortal Kombat 11 might have been potentially leaked because of a disgruntled Voice Actor ahead of the game’s official reveal.

Eduardo Garza, the Spanish voice actor for Reptile and Kung Lao in Mortal Kombat X took to Twitter and sent tweets to a game localization company called Pink Noise Studio which read “Well, finally I confirm that the “professionals” of Pink Noise decided to remove my characters from Mortal Kombat XI. How sad that a company ends up making decisions that affect both me and consumers. Goodbye Kung Lao and Reptile.”

The original tweets were in Spanish and have been translated to English by native speakers of the language. When asked if he knew more about the sequel he said, “I do not know if it is MKXI, Mk 10.5, MKXYZ or whatever; The point is that for the new material I was not summoned.” From his tweets, he doesn’t seem particularly happy about not making the cut. While they might even be replacing the VA for those characters, chances are that they might not be in the game.

A person claiming to know one of the music producer’s of the game leaked information on Reddit which did say that Reptile won’t be in the game but they also stated that Kung Lao would be in the game and would be part of the Nether Realm team in the main story of the game. Besides the aforementioned information, in September series veterans Richard Divizio and Daniel Pesina said in an interview that they were doing motion capture work for the game. Both Divizio and Pesina have been doing motion capture for the Mortal Kombat series all the way from the beginning so your guess is as good as ours when it comes to if the game is being made or not.

Like all leaks, take this with a grain of salt. Although, it is more than likely that NetherRealm is working on a Mortal Kombat game as it has been over a year a since the release of Injustice 2. There has been no response from NetherRealm or Warner Bros. regarding these claims as of this moment.
