PUBG PC Season 6 Update Adds New Map ‘Karakin’

Season 6 is upon us and it brings with it a brand new island to the Battlegrounds. Karakin has risen like its namesake from the sea to bring intense action and quick gameplay to PUBG. New dangers, new weapons and a whole new island await, so let’s drop into the action of Update 6.1.

NEW MAP: KARAKIN

Higher tension, faster pace: Welcome to Karakin.

Karakin is a 2×2 km island off the coast of Northern Africa. It’s an arid, rocky environment that provides wide-open terrain and challenging engagements. It’s small, fast, and dangerous: Expect the tension of Miramar combined with the pace of Sanhok. Karakin is a 64 players map.

Players should expect long distance rifle engagements in the mountains, tactical urban conflict, and claustrophobic underground combat. And with the introduction of the Black Zone, Karakin reveals its twist: a map that’s layout changes every match.

Our new hazard, the Black Zone only available in Karakin, levels buildings into smoking ruins.

  • The Black Zone is designed to push players out of the safety of a building.
  • The hazard is random: towns and compounds can be undamaged, totally flattened, and everything in between.
  • The mix of buildings and ruins evolves in real time throughout the match: Meaning don’t always expect that building you run to for cover to be there late in the match.
  • Remember, if you hear the siren, and you are inside that purple circle on the minimap- evacuate!

New Throwable: Sticky Bomb (Karakin Only)

To change up siege play, we’re introducing Breach Points which can be destroyed with Sticky Bombs in Karakin.

  • Certain walls and floors have breach points which can be destroyed with Sticky Bombs
  • This feature presents more tools for our players: For campers, it allows more sight lines/windows to be created
  • For squads going on the offensive however, there are new options for storming buildings- “Do we blast in through the back of the building, or through the roof- maybe both?” the choice is yours!
  • And for explorers, we’ve hidden many secret areas for those players with a spare Sticky Bomb or two, and a keen nose for loot

Finally, to make interior gun fights a little more interesting, we’ve added bullet penetration to our weakest walls in Karakin. Getting brief glimpses of your enemies through damaged drywall, and deciding to take the fight or regroup- gives players more options.

At PUBG we are dedicated to providing new experiences for you, the player, and pushing what’s possible in our genre. We can’t wait for you to experience it for yourself!

Karakin Loot Increase – 23rd January

We heard your feedback during the testing phase and initial launch of Karakin and have now implemented a hotfix to increase and rebalance loot on our newest Battleground.

To ensure you can drop in and loot up quickly above around, we’ve rebalanced loot spawns to improve your overall experience. There’ll now be much more loot to go around for you and your squad.

We understand and agree that feeling a need to rush and breach a tunnel each match to get that sweet, sweet loot just didn’t feel great. So, we’ve increased above-ground spawn rate of healing and boost items, as well as scopes to get you battle ready quicker. We hope this will allow you to explore Karakin more freely without feeling required to breach a tunnel just to find enough of that sweet, sweet loot to survive.

Please keep the feedback coming, it’s appreciated as always and we look forward to continually improving Karakin alongside our passionate community.

Detailed changes

  • Increased 2x, 3x, 4x scopes
  • Increased healing/boost items above ground
  • Modified ratio of total SR/DMR muzzle attachments due to increased spawn rate of those weapons
  • Decreased number of melee weapons, canted sights and magazine attachments
  • Removed Sawed-off from Karakin

New Vehicle: Motor Glider

Fly like a butterfly, sting like a bee.

Motor Glider is currently available on live servers (added Jan 15). For more information, please see the PUBG LABS Report – Motor Glider.

  • Motor Glider is available on Erangel and Miramar
    • 10 Motor Gliders will spawn across the map each game, across 40 potential locations.
  • Motor Glider has two seats; one for pilot and one for passenger who can shoot and use any weapon from the backseat
  • To takeoff, you must gain the necessary speed of 65 km/h then pitch up with the S key
    • You’ll start to take off automatically once you hit 70 km/h
  • Motor Glider’s fuel consumption rate is tied to the engine speed – the more throttle you apply, the faster you will run out of gas
  • Motor Glider will be spawned without gas. Fuel up before starting the engine.
  • There’s no maximum altitude you can reach, the sky is the limit! But engine will start losing power the higher the altitude you are at
  • Controls:
    • Use W/S keys to control the pitch and A/D to control the roll of the aircraft
    • Adjust the throttle by holding Left Shift and Left Ctrl keys
    • Hold Spacebar when on the ground to engage handbrake

Razer Pushes the Boundaries of PC and Mobile Gaming at CES 2020

Razer™, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, today announces the new Razer Kishi universal mobile gaming controllers, the Razer Sila 5G Home Router, the Razer Tomahawk Gaming Desktop, and a new Razer Eracing Simulator concept created in collaboration with several game publishers and technology vendors.

PAVING THE WAY FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE CLOUD GAMING

As the undisputed innovation leader in gaming hardware, software and services, Razer is looking to get players ready for the future of cloud and mobile gaming. With a view to creating a unique ecosystem of high-performance input devices and infrastructure solutions, the company introduces the Razer Kishi, a universal cloud-gaming compatible controller for iOS and Android phones, and the Razer Sila 5G Home Router, the first gaming-focused 5G router.

The Razer Kishi universal mobile gaming controllers support low latency gameplay on either Android or iOS devices. Building on the compact ergonomic form of the Razer Junglecat which primarily targeted Razer Phone 2 owners, Razer’s new Kishi cloud-compatible controllers provide clickable analog controls and thumbsticks on both sides of the phone with a universal fit created in partnership with Gamevice for compatibility with most smartphones.

Ultra-low latency native and cloud game control is now delivered through a hidden USB-C or Apple Lightning® connection, and pass-through charging ports on the Kishi allow for device charging during game play. The Kishi for Android offers support for most Android or iOS games that are compatible with mobile controllers, including both native titles and cloud services.

“Razer is excited to strengthen its collaboration with NVIDIA by joining their GeForce NOW Recommended program,” said Jason Schwartz, Head of Mobile Gaming at Razer. “GeForce NOW is PC gaming in the cloud, transforming underpowered or incompatible hardware into a powerful GeForce gaming PC. Razer mobile gaming controllers are perfect complementary devices to enhance this type of gameplay which we are pleased to feature here at the Razer CES booth.”

The Razer Kishi mobile controllers (for Android or iOS) will be available in early 2020.

Razer’s Sila 5G Home Router concept is a high-speed networking device tailored for gamers to offer ultra-low latency during both stationary and mobile gameplay, featuring Razer’s proprietary FasTrack engine. A built-in rechargeable battery also adds capability as a mobile 5G hotspot for impromptu, latency-free tournaments wherever you go.

Razer’s FasTrack engine is an intelligent, continuously adaptive QoS (quality of service) feature that prioritizes bandwidth for applications and devices for high-speed gaming & streaming. A unique Gaming Mode allows for online gameplay with no interruptions.

The Razer Sila 5G Home Router lets users prioritize between client hardware, such as Xbox or desktop PC, and is designed to optimize cloud gaming services. Additionally, a manual indicator will notify users when the priority has changed so that they’re always in-the-know.

The router can be easily controlled through the available Android or iOS apps with the option to prioritize individual apps or games, or alternatively, to prioritize the categories of those apps. The accompanying app allows users quick and easy control of guest networks, to set security protocols, or adjust device priorities.

REDEFINING COMPACT GAMING SYSTEMS

In partnership with Intel®, Razer introduces the Razer Tomahawk Gaming Desktop – the first truly modular desktop system utilizing the new ultra-compact Razer Tomahawk N1 chassis.

A perfect fit for the Intel® NUC 9 Extreme Compute Element, the Razer Tomahawk N1 is a sleek, compact desktop chassis with an advanced modular layout, infusing Razer’s minimalistic design language into a gaming chassis to create a one-of-a-kind desktop case, capable of achieving high clock speeds and frame rates without the bulk of a full-sized desktop.

The Razer Tomahawk N1’s all-aluminum body is flanked by tempered glass on both sides, highlighting the vertically mounted GPU in all its glory, with an open vent design at the top to maintain cooling performance. The rear features a lock-and-slide sled mechanism that opens with minimal effort, allowing for quick access to internal components without the need for tools.

The Razer Tomahawk Gaming Desktop will feature up to an Intel® Core-i9 processor, 64GB of DDR4 RAM, and NVIDIA™ GeForce RTX™ 2080 Super graphics. Both the RAM and SSD modules on the NUC card will be upgradeable as well as the fans, GPU and NUC itself, to satisfy the needs of the most demanding gamers, streamers, and content creators alike.

The Razer Tomahawk Gaming Desktop will be available in the first half of 2020. The Tomahawk N1 case will be available as a standalone product for hardware-savvy PC enthusiasts looking to build their own compact yet powerful gaming PCs.

With the increasing need for processing power in next-gen games and an ever demanding user base, Razer will also launch the next generation of Razer Blade gaming laptops later this year. Featuring the latest 10th Gen Intel® Core™ H-Series Processors to meet those expectations, they will pack up to 300Hz refresh rate panels, powerful graphics processors, and optimized designs to stay ahead of the game.

TAKING POLE POSITION IN NEW ERACING ESPORTS CATEGORY

For the Razer Eracing Simulator concept, Razer brought together some of the leading companies in sim racing to deliver the most immersive racing experience to date, offering a preview and demo of the future of competitive eracing. Running Project CARS Pro, the concept model features technology from Vesaro, Simpit, Fanatec and Synthesis VR, creating a thrilling and immersive eracing setup with a 202-degree projection system, a hydraulic racing platform, full manual controls, and a steering wheel with paddle shift.

The simulator chassis is built with an ultra-strong hand-crafted center core designed around an advanced modular upgrade system, allowing for many simulation scenarios. The center core sits on a motion platform powered by two actuators and a gaming control box for a professional racing training setup that maps terrain surfaces, G-force and sounds into motion for a completely immersive experience. Real surround visuals provided by Simpit come from two Full-HD projectors beaming onto a 128-inch custom black projection surface with 202-degree field-of-view with vibrant colors and deep blacks.

Driver controls from Fanatec feature an anodized aluminum and carbon fiber steering wheel sheathed in smooth leather, magnetic paddles and adjustable buttons for gear shifting and precise driver aide, paired to a three-pedal system below. The racing harness simulates the effects of G-forces by applying pressure, allowing the body to feel the fast acceleration speeds and tightest corners.

“The competitive eracing scene is an untapped but growing sector of esports for which Razer has brought a new innovation, making the games more enjoyable, more immersive and more exciting for fans,” said David Tse, Global Esports Director at Razer. “We are ready to invest resources into growing this area of competition.”

“We are very excited to be working alongside Razer as they enter the racing esports space at CES 2020; combining one of our professional grade systems with Razer’s racing sim effort, we can’t wait to see how this will push virtual racing further into the mainstream spotlight and take the sport to the next level,” said Nevil Slade, CEO & Designer for Vesaro.

Razer will continue to develop and build the ultimate eracing simulator, rallying together the best hardware and software technology companies in the industry. Razer will also invest in eracing competitions and leagues in the near future. Parties interested in collaborating on the development of the simulator can contact [email protected].

ASUS ROG Reveals the World’s First 360Hz Gaming Monitor at CES 2020

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced the ROG Swift 360Hz, the world’s fastest and first NVIDIA G-SYNC® gaming monitor with a 360Hz refresh rate, and the ROG Swift PG32UQX with G-SYNC ULTIMATE technology, a 32-inch gaming display engineered with mini-LED technology to deliver stunning 4K HDR visuals.

Unparalleled speed for an extra edge with the ROG Swift 360Hz G-SYNC Esports monitor

Compared to widely available 240Hz gaming monitors, the ROG Swift 360Hz can put out a whopping 50 percent more frames every second – supplying esports and competitive gamers with the edge they need to win. With a comfortable 24.5-inch display size and Full HD resolution, the ROG Swift 360Hz features the same unmistakable design that graces the lineup of highest-end ROG gaming monitors.

Mini-LED Drives Performance and Visuals in the 32-inch ROG Swift PG32UQX G-SYNC Ultimate monitor

The ROG Swift PG32UQX is the ultimate 4K high-dynamic-range (HDR) gaming monitor. Featuring an advanced G-SYNC ULTIMATE processor with the latest HDR features, the 16:9 display is illuminated by a full-array local dimming backlight with 1152 Mini LED zones that let the PG32UQX display the brightest highlights and darkest blacks of a scene with incredible contrast and minimal haloing. Small highlights in games, like light bulbs or the disc of the sun, can reach peak brightness of up to 1400 nits, offering a more lifelike HDR experience than ever before. The Mini-LED backlight can also turn off as needed when it comes to darker scenes.

The G-SYNC processor drives variable refresh rates up to 144Hz, and support for 10-bit color throughout the refresh rate range ensures that the PG32UQX always shows off games, movies, and desktop applications at their best. With NVIDIA G-SYNC technology, users will enjoy smooth, tear-free gameplay, even when frame rates fall below the PG32UQX’s peak 144Hz refresh rate, and with the incredibly capable panel and backlight inside, the PG32UQX is NVIDIA G-SYNC ULTIMATE-certified. All G-SYNC ULTIMATE-certified displays undergo a rigorous validation process and are subjected to 300 image quality tests to ensure they deliver consistent quality and maximum performance.

The PG32UQX is also designed to be a productive companion outside of games, offering DisplayHDR 1400 compliance for other entertainment needs. For those who want to use all of the screen size available from a 4K resolution, the 32-inch diagonal expanse of the PG32UQX offers a pixel density better suited to running a Windows desktop without scaling.

The ROG Swift PG32UQX doesn’t hold back in style, designed with multiple textures on the back of the display, separated by a subtle diagonal chrome strip. An Aura Sync-enabled RGB LED ROG logo lets users coordinate the PG32UQX with other Aura Sync-enabled components for a fully harmonized battlestation. And a logo projector in the base of the ROG trademark twisted stand lets users show off the Republic of Gamers logo or display a customized logo using the included blank discs.

AMD Reveals 4th Gen Ryzen 3000 Mobile Processors at CES 2020

CES 2020 has kicked off, and the red team is bringing its A-game to the battlefield by unveiling their next generation of mobile processors to start off 2020. At CES 2020, AMD pulled off the curtain from its 3rd gen Ryzen 4000 laptop processors.

Just last year, at CES 2019, Lisa Su had revealed the Radeon 7, which marked the transition of AMD chips to the 7nm process. The Navi and Ryzen 3000 desktop chips are now all using the 7nm architecture.

Based on the 7nm Zen 2 architecture, the new Ryzen 4000 processors will be used across an extensive variety of laptops, ranging from powerful gaming and content creation devices to ultra-portable laptops. AMD showed off the Ryzen 7 4800U, an 8 core/16 thread processor with a base clock speed of 1.8 GHz that boosts up to 4.2 GHz, and a TDP of just 15W. AMD claims that the graphics performance for this CPU will be 28% faster than Intel’s i7.

By the end of 2020, over a 100 laptops will be using the Ryzen 4000 chips, one of the first ones being the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7, which was also revealed at CES 2020.

AMD also revealed the Ryzen 7 4800H, which is aimed at the gaming market. This is another 8core/16 thread CPU, but with a base clock speed of 2.9GHz, boosting up to 4.2GHz. The TDP for the 4800H is 45W.

The red team has been slowly stepping up its laptop game after dominating the desktop CPU market in recent times, and with a big reveal as this kicking off 2020, things are only bound to get more interesting. Stay tuned for more updates.
