Notice Regarding Recording of Losses from the Termination of Development Projects
Capcom announces that it expects to record losses from the termination of development projects in its consolidated financial results for the six months of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019 (April 1, 2018 – September 30, 2018). Details are as follows: 1. Details of losses from the termination of development projects
Capcom Game Studio Vancouver., a consolidated subsidiary of Capcom, primarily carries out development of home video game software for markets outside of Japan; however, Capcom is currently reviewing the allocation of its development resources that support the production of world-class content.
In consideration of this process, as a result of reviewing titles in development at Capcom Game Studio Vancouver, Inc., Capcom now expects to record losses from the termination of development projects of approximately 4.5 billion yen under cost of sales in its consolidated financial results for the six months of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019.
Regarding Capcom’s full-year business forecast, due to factors including the continued robust performance of the PC version of Monster Hunter: World exceeding the company’s expectations since its release on the Steam platform in August, following the blockbuster performance of the title after its initial release in January of this year, the forecast for Capcom’s consolidated business results remains the same as what was projected at the financial results announcement on May 8, 2018.
Further, there are no changes to the amounts of the interim dividend or year-end dividend that were announced on the same day.
It’s been a great year for Video Games, and we’re just about entering the main release season. We’ve seen big hits like God of War and Far Cry 5 launch earlier in the year, and it’s only gotten bigger and better from there. Here are the top 10 best selling games of 2018 so far. This lists only shows games released till August 2018, so don’t worry if you don’t see Spider-man or Shadow of the tomb Raider on the list.
Far Cry 5
God of War
Monster Hunter: World
Madden NFL 19
Grand Theft Auto V
Call of Duty: WWII
Dragon Ball: Fighterz
Mario Kart 8
Super Mario Odyssey
This list only includes physical sales, but is still indicative of the overall trends in gaming this year. Single player games are doing well, multiplayer games are also doing well, and Steve Madden is a happy man. Also, this is the second year in a row that Ubisoft has been killing it, with Ghost Recon Wildlands leading last year’s physical sales.
Fortnite’s data miners are back it again and have leaked a lot of upcoming cosmetic items which are viewable thanks to FNBR. The new cosmetics feature a bunch of very cool items so let’s take a look at them.
From the image above you can see that there’s an extremely creepy looking clown skin that has been aptly named “Nite Nite” which also goes with the whole Fort’NITE’ part of the game’s title and also has its own emote called “Peekaboo”. Creepy clowns are truly the worst and it’s going to piss off a lot of people when they die to people with that skin.
There’s also a new Valkyrie skin which has a very Godly Viking feel to it. While many were hoping to get the Ghost Portal in the new update, it seems that it will be added in the coming few updates. The whole list of leaked items can be checked over at the FNBR website.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode, Blackout, had its Beta Open a few days back which let players get a feel of this new battle royale mode. With a lot of praise from CoD fans and Battle Royale game fans alike, did this Beta in any way disrupt the king of Battle Royale games, PUBG?
The Blackout Beta wowed many players due to its fast-paced arcade action which has been the signature for Call of Duty games and because of how well it incorporated the various game mechanics into the Battle Royale game mode. While the Beta certainly helped boost pre-order sales and maybe even helped those on the edge about purchasing the game make a decision, there were many who jumped aboard the hype train. Those people who did were quick to state that this game would be the one to bring down PUBG and Fortnite and become one of the most played Battle Royale games on the market.
While this isn’t much to go off of, we have the SteamSpy graph to help us see if the Blackout Beta lowered PUBG’s active player count and it’s usual daily player count. As seen from the graph, there didn’t seem to be any disruption and PUBG’s concurrent peak players crossed 1 million players every day of the Blackout Beta. Another thing to note is that the Blackout will come with Black Ops 4 so to play Blackout you’ll have to shell out $60 or the regional equivalence to play it which could mean a lower player-count than the Open beta which is free for everyone.
This is specific to the PC platform though and chances are that the console versions will fare better since the PS4 doesn’t have PUBG and will go up against Fortnite while the Xbox One version should have more players due to the unstable performance of PUBG on that console.
It is going to be very interesting to see how each Battle Royale faired at the end of the year since Blackout, Firestorm, and Ring of Elysium will have been out by then.
FIFA 19’s demo dropped recently in anticipation of the game’s full release and features quite a few of the new content that will be in the full game. Let’s talk about a few of those new features that you may or may not know about.
Now, this isn’t really a ‘Big new Feature’ but it is an addition that really helps with the immersion of the game. The animations have been improved a lot over the previous iteration and feature new reaction animations for when players get hit with the ball depending on the body part. The animations are much more fluid and smooth and it is visible from the get-go and I felt it absolutely deserved a shout out.
Random Celebration Button
Are you someone who can’t be bothered to learn new animations? Do you hate dabbing but do it to annoy your friends? This new feature right here will help you with those problems. Pressing the Circle Button(PS4) or B Button(Xbox One) now has your player perform a random celebration. I really, really hope this stops people from dabbing all the time because that needs to stop.
Skip Celebrations and Quick Kickoff
Don’t want to celebrate your goal or are trailing and want to get back into the game ASAP? In FIFA 19 instead of mashing the Cross or A Button, you now skip the celebration and replays to jump straight into the kick-off by pressing both the Triggers and Bumpers(L1+R1 along with L2+R2 on PS4 and LB+RB along with LT+RT on Xbox)
Player Switch Indicator
Tired of switching to the wrong player? There’s now an indicator that shows which player you’ll switch to next so instead of thinking to the wrong player and then panicking, you now have a figuring out which player to switch to. It’s a welcome new feature that was previously available in the PES games.
Timed Shooting and New Inputs
There’s a new mechanic shooting mechanic called the Timed Shooting mechanic. If used properly can lead to great shots but can also lead to a lot of bad shots. This has led to the input of the low driven shot to change to both bumper buttons plus shoot (R1+L1+O or LB+RB+B). The timing bar can only be seen with the trainer on so if you plan on using this feature and want to get accustomed to it you’ll need the trainer on. There’s also a new manual pass input (R1+L1+X or RB+LB+A). You can read more about the new moves and inputs here.
Do you want to give yourself a challenge and start at 2-0 down? Is your friend new to the game and you want them to have fun? The new Advantage settings allow you to all that while also allowing you to set the level of the AI teammates and is a neat new feature that should help with weaker/newer players level the playing field.
That’s just a few of the new features and additions in the new game that I’m excited about and can’t wait to get my hands on the full release on 28th September.
Fortnite is one of the most popular games right now and has people of all ages playing it. The fact that it is cross-platform and is also available on mobile devices that too for free on all platforms makes it extremely accessible for everyone.
However, there have been many cases of people being addicted to the game to the point of needing to go to rehab. Sadly, some people are so into the game that it is affecting their marriage and has led to divorce. According to a report from Divorce-Online, a UK site that offers information and divorce services to couples, 5% of the petitions that they have received in 2018 cites Fortnite as one of the reasons for the divorce. They have received 200 petitions out of 4,665 which cited Fortnite and other online games as one of the reasons and since this is is just from users of this website from the UK, we can only imagine how high the overall number could be worldwide.
While video games are fun and they work as a great of destressing and relaxing, too much of it can strain your life as a whole. Always be mindful of how much time you’ve spent playing and if you’re neglecting other important aspects of your life just to play games.
