Recently, NVIDIA put out a tweet saying “They’re coming”, all but confirming the inevitable release of GTX 16 series laptops, including ones with the 1660 Ti and 1660. The GTX 1650 hasn’t been launched yet, but we should get to see something soon on that end as well. While jury is still out on the final specs and release schedule, Acer has updated their Predator series with a 1660 Ti model on the website.
The laptop listed on the site is the Acer Predator Helios 300, with Intel Core i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti and 16 GB DDR4 RAM. It has a 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The starting price point is $1199. While the GTX 1660 Ti laptop is definitely coming, we expect to hear something soon regarding the GTX 1660 models.
The GTX 1660 Ti and the 1660 are the latest addition to NVIDIA’s GTX line-up. These are based on the same Turing architecture as the RTX graphics cards, but lack the support for realtime Ray Tracing and DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling). The RTX mobile graphics cards have their MaxQ variants, but whether the GTX 16 series models will get the same treatment or not hasn’t been confirmed. In any case, they will provide a good budget option for gamers looking for a good price to performance ratio.
