Final Fantasy VII Remake New Screenshots and Details Revealed

Square Enix has revealed more news and screenshots for Final Fantasy VII Remake, detailing Cloud abilities, Chocobo and Moogle summoning and information about the battle system. Read more in detail below:

The Turks

The Investigation Sector of the General Affairs Department of the Shinra Electric Power Company. A small, elite organization that carries out special operations, the Turks operate behind the scenes and handle everything from scouting out SOLDIER candidates to protecting VIPs, intelligence activities, and even assassination.

■ Avalanche

An anti-Shinra group acting to protect the planet. Mako is the life energy of the planet, and Avalanche alleges that Shinra Company is draining the planet’s lifespan. There are currently several factions within Avalanche, and the group that oversees Midgar, which consists of Barret and company, is a dynamic one that does not hesitate to use force.

■ Battle System: Classic Mode

Classic Mode can be activated by selecting “Classic” from the difficulty menu. In Classic Mode, party members will act automatically, with the ATB gauge filling up as they do so. In this mode, the player only needs to select which abilities, magic, and items they will use their ATB charges for. This brings the feel of the gameplay closer to the menu-based battles from the original Final Fantasy VII but with the amazing immersive graphics of the remake. It is also possible to revert to direct control at any time during Classic Mode by pushing buttons on the controller.

■ Battle System: Cloud

Cloud can “Attack” with his sword at close range with the Square button and build up combos by repeatedly pressing Square. By holding Square, Cloud can unleash a radial attack.

Unique Ability

The Triangle button activates each character’s unique ability. Cloud’s unique ability is to switch between different fighting styles. He can switch between “Operator Mode” which has a good balance between attack and defense, and “Punisher Mode” which is geared heavily towards offense. In Punisher Mode, Cloud’s movement speed is reduced, but his basic square button attacks are upgraded to even mightier blows.

■ Summons

While equipping Summon Materia, you will be able to summon a powerful ally once the special summon gauge fills up. Summons will fight alongside you automatically on the battlefield, but you can also use your own ATB charges to have them perform special abilities. Just before they leave the fight, your ally will unleash a powerful special move!

Final Fantasy VII Remake for Xbox One Leaked with Release Date

Xbox Germany accidentally posted a trailer of the Final Fantasy Remake with a release date stating that it was coming out on 3rd March 2020.

The Xbox Germany Facebook account has since taken it down but Twitter User Nibellion was quick to take screenshots of the post. The original Facebook post contained the trailer for the game with Xbox brandings.

The marketing head for Xbox Germany was quick to tweet out a response but nothing can be done now since they probably released the info too early.

From the PSX 2015 Reveal

The release date for the PlayStation 4 version of the game is also 3rd March 2020 so this is odd because the earlier trailers stated that the game would debut first on the PS4.

Now, it just says that the game will be available worldwide on 3rd March. Curiously, the E3 2019 Press Release from Square Enix stated that the game will first debut on the PlayStation 4 so maybe things have changed since then or maybe it’s a very short exclusivity period.

This also begs the question that since it is coming to PlayStation and now Xbox, will it also make its way to PC like Final Fantasy XV did? It would be really good to see it on PC but right now that’s just speculation.

However, it does seem like the Xbox port is happening and that it will launch very close to the PlayStation 4’s release date. I’m guessing we’ll see the official announcement for the Xbox One version for the game very soon.
