AMD Ryzen 3000 Series Launched; Indian Prices Revealed

Today is the day as AMD has launched their 7nm 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs, a family of CPUs that we’ve all been waiting for. Eight new CPUs are available from today onwards, with the Ryzen 3900X being the top most model available as of now. The 16-core Ryzen 3950X will launch later this year in September.

Ryzen 9 3900X

So let’s start this roundup with the AMD’s current champion, the Ryzen 9 3900X a 12c/ 24t CPU with a base clock speed of 3.8Ghz that boosts to 4.6Ghz. This little monster goes up against Intel’s i9-9900K that costs about Rs 40,299. Meanwhile, the 3900X comes in at Rs 35,990 excluding the 18% GST. However, with the GST added to it, this CPU costs 2 grand more than the 9900K and will cost your approx. Rs. 42,468.

Ryzen 7 3800X and 3700X

Below the Ryzen 9 CPU, we have the 8c/16t Ryzen 7 line-up. First up is the Ryzen 7 3800X that comes in at Rs 28,490 excluding GST. Then comes the Ryzen 3700X at Rs 24,990 excluding GST. The final price for this CPU will come to about Rs. 29,488 after taxes. The 3700X goes up against the i7-9700K which costs Rs 31,800 but it is an 8c/8t CPU.

Ryzen 5 3600X

This CPU right here is the budget builder’s dream. The Ryzen 3600X costs just Rs 17,690 which means that after tax it will cost around Rs. 20,874. That’s a very impressive offering considering this 6c/12t CPU goes up against the i5-9600k. With a base clock of 3.8Ghz that boosts to 4.4Ghz, this is a very impressive CPU. Even the regular 3600 looks to be great value as it is just .2Ghz slower than its X counter-part while costing roughly Rs 3000 less.

Ryzen 3 3200G and 3400G


The lower-end of the spectrum and the only Ryzen CPUs that have integrated graphics. The 3400G costs Rs 10,990 before tax and approx Rs. 12,968 after. While the cheapest Ryzen, the 3200G costs Rs 7,190 before tax which means after tax it will come to around Rs. 8,484. 

Radeon RX 5700 and 5700XT

The new Navi GPUs have already seen a price cut even before releasing thanks to Nvidia’s RTX Super lineup of cards. The RX 5700XT costs Rs 30,990 before tax ( which is approx 36,599 after-tax) and locks horns with the RTX 2070. Meanwhile, the RX 5700 costs Rs 26,990 before tax (approx Rs 31,899 after-tax) and goes up against the RTX 2060 and RTX 2060 Super.

The CPU market is a very interesting one now that Intel has cut their prices to make their CPUs very competitive. They’re cheaper than the new Ryzen CPUs in a few cases while also delivering somewhat better performance in games. 

Meanwhile, the GPU line-up might fall short as the RTX cards still seem like better value for money but with the price-drop, AMD has made their RX 5000 cards more competitive and an enticing option should people want to choose Team Red for their GPU.

AMD Reveals Radeon Navi RX 5700 At E3 2019

At the AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) “Next Horizon Gaming” livestream event at E3 today, President and CEO Dr. Lisa Su unveiled the company’s next-generation PC gaming platform, bringing new levels of performance and efficiency and introducing powerful features for gamers everywhere, based on the new AMD Radeon™ RX 5700 Series graphics cards and 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ desktop processors.

The AMD Radeon™ RX 5700 XT and RX 5700 graphics cards are built on the new AMD RDNA gaming architecture to deliver superior visual fidelity, lightning-fast performance and advanced features to power the latest AAA and eSports titles. Computex Day 1 Highlights

Computex kicked off with a bang yesterday, and you know what that means. We have a host of new product announcements to talk about. So, without wasting any time, let’s dive into the biggest announcements from Day 1 at Computex 2019.

Ryzen 3000

First up, we have the Ryzen 3000 series processors from the red team. We’ve known about them for a while, but now they’re finally here. Based on the Zen 2 architecture, the Ryzen 3000 is the first 7nm range of CPUs from AMD.

At the top of the line up, we have the flagship Ryzen 9 3900X with 12 cores and 24 threads, priced at $499. The 3900X has a base clock speed of 3.8 GHz and boosts up to 4.6 GHz.

Below that, we have the 8 core/16 thread Ryzen 7 3800X and Ryz en 7 3700X, priced at $399 and $329 respectively.  To bring home the line-up, there are the Ryzen 5 3600X and the 3600 with 6 cores and 12 threads.

AMD’s strong point here is definitely the affordable price point.  To put things in perspective, here’s a little fun fact.

The 12 core Intel Core i9 9920X costs $1199, more than double the price of  the 3900X.

Combine that with the company’s claim of a 15% IPC improvement with the Zen 2 architecture, and we can definitely expect to see an increase in AMD’s market share.

AMD Navi RX 5000 GPUs

Next up, from team red again, we have the 7nm Navi RX 5000 graphics cards. There have been a lot of rumours about Navi, especially regarding the branding. And now, AMD has finally put those rumours to rest. The cards will be branded as the RX 5000 series, most likely inspired by the company’s recent 50th anniversary.

With Navi, AMD is moving on from the GCN architecture we’ve seen in older cards to the new RDNA architecture.

According to AMD, it offers a 1.25x increase in performance per clock and 1.5x increase in performance per watt compared to the older architecutre.

On stage, AMD CEO Lisa Su showed the RX 5700 running the Strange Brigade benchmark against NVIDIA’s RTX 2070, where the RX 5700 came ahead by about 10%. As of now, there is no news about pricing, and AMD’s is expected to reveal more information at E3 during the company’s “Next Horizon Gaming” livestream.

X570 Chipset will not support first gen Ryzen

Amongst the good stuff, we also have some bad news from AMD. The new X570 chipset will not be completely backwards compatible, as it doesn’t support first gen Ryzen processors. Additionally, you won’t be able to use a Ryzen 3000 series CPU on all X370 and B350 motherboards, as support will vary depending on the brand and the model.

This sure seems to put a dent into AMD’s plan to support all Ryzen processors on the AM4 socket, but ultimately there are limitations in the BIOS chip capacity for older boards.

Still, not all is lost because there are plenty of 400 series motherboards available in the market that will support the Ryzen 3000 processors.

Intel Core i9 9900KS

Just because AMD had so many new things to share at Computex, it doesn’t mean that Intel didn’t have anything up their sleeves. The blue team unveiled the Core i9 9900KS, a 8 core/16 thread beast capable of boosting up to 5 GHz on all cores. That’s a 300 Mhz increase over the 9900K which boosts up to 4.7 GHz on all cores. The 9900KS also has a higher base clock speed, 4.0 GHz over the 9900K’s 3.6 GHz.

Other than that, they’re basically the same chip, based on the 14nm++ Coffee Lake architecture. Pricing and power draw still haven’t been revealed, so stay tuned for more updates.
