The Last of Us 2 has had many rumours regarding its release date but we finally have a confirmed date. 21st February 2020 is the chosen date so prepare your wallets and your sick days because you might need it to enjoy this masterpiece.

The PlayStation State of Play was announced for 24th September and with it was announced that they would be showing a little more of the Last of Us 2.

Spoilers for the trailer will be present in this paragraph and the one after so skip it if you don’t want to know what’s in the trailer.  It starts off with Ellie and her girlfriend Dina talking about the kiss they shared which we saw in the previous trailer. It skips forward to the two of them going out on a patrol when Dina gets separated. As Ellie looks for Dina, she enters this house in the middle of the forest where she sees blood outside the door to the basement. As she enters the room, she is ambushed by a man who beats her up and holds her down as we hear a gunshot before which pleads them to stop.

From what we can infer, it looks like they shot and killed Dina. Ellie manages to escape and has scars all over her body. She vows to avenge Dina’s death and take down this mysterious group of people. As we see her explore the game world, she gets caught from behind when a patrol is driving by and as the camera turns around, we see the main man himself, Joel. And Joel ain’t letting his baby girl go through it alone.

With the release date set and the premise of the story out, its safe to say that everybody is excited and absolutely aboard the hype train.

The Last of Us 2 Possibly Set for a Feb 2020 Release

The Last of Us 2 is set to release in February of 2020 according to various reports.

As reported originally by Eurogamer, one of the biggest reasons to believe this is because of Ashley Johnson, who plays Ellie in the Last of Us games. During an interview for Critical Role when asked about the release date of the game, she seems to mouth the words “Feehhh” before being cut off.

Earlier in May, Jason Schrier reported that Death Stranding was going to release in November this year and that The Last of Us 2 got moved to February 2020 instead of Fall 2019.

Considering the fact that the Death Stranding information was correct we can expect this to be true as well. Jason Schrier also only tends to comment about such information only when he’s sure about it.

And the final report comes from Video Game Analyst, Daniel Ahmad who is a frequent poster on Resetera and also has insider information. He stated that the current internal date is February 2020 which lines up with the other information we have.

February 2020 already seems packed with various game releases and its safe to say that we can add The Last of Us 2 to that list. With this, 2020 is shaping up to be a year with a lot of amazing game releases and we can’t wait to get our hands on them.

Thanks to Eurogamer for the original report.
