What started off as a fun(read: addictive) minigame in The Witcher 3 is now a full-blown game with a proper story and everything. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales has had its story gameplay revealed and it looks like it might just take over my life when it releases.
The main story has you play as Queen Meve, the ruler of the twin realms Lyria and Rivia. Does the latter sound familiar? It’s because Geralt of Rivia gets knighted by her and is officially given the title “Of Rivia” by the Queen herself. While the focus of the game is on Gwent, the game does have side missions that you can complete. You must also improve your army. All of this is done by the isometric gameplay of the game where you can walk around, explore your environment and meet new people.
The game features over 250 different cards, over 75 side quests that sprawl across the continent and includes places like Lyria, Rivia, Mahakam, Angren and Aedirn. The game will take about 30 hours to beat and will feature 20 different end world states, depending on your choices.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is set to release on October 23rd for PC and will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox on December 4th.
